i am not sure on his service tag or that yet.. please can someone help me out if thay can do it..

thanks gsim

If the machine was purchased by him, & he has proof of ownership, he can call Dell to have it unlocked.

It may take a week or so to go through the procedure.

You can also try the solutions here , although I'd go down the official Dell route first.

I can't vouch for any of the methods suggested, so would recommend them only as a last resort.

As far as I'm aware, there's no freely available software on the net that will allow you to unlock it.

If your m8 bought the machine from Dell, they will have all the ownership details on their system & should be able to provide a master password code.

If he bought it second hand, then it could involve a series of jumping through hoops to prove ownership.

If it's legit, call Dell and they'll help.
If it's been nicked somewhere along the line, then your m8 is looking at being £50 worse off.

We use hundreds of these at our work and Dell are very helpful if you can prove ownership otherwise you fooked.

i did a dell latitude d610 like this and it worked for me
not sure if is the same for your model ....

the 8 pin chip starts with 24cxxx
and you short pins 3 and 6 with a paper clip for a few seconds
that will clear the bios password
