thinking of getting Chromecast , anyone got it ??

I use moviedroid to cast online films/tv using my android tablet. Installed Plex yesterday and seems to be the only one I can find that will stream local content.

I bought one to see what t was like, it's ok, but no better than the £10 nowtv box with plex, which I've gone back to.

Just to point out the Now TV box doesn't support Netflix. It's also more open than Now TV, it just needs the apps to appear.

Whilst Sky haven't ruled out a Now TV app for the Chromecast, my opinion is we're more likely to see a Now TV dongle based on the Roku Streaming Stick.

Neither has an Amazon Prime Instant Video app.

For a hidden, one box solution, an Android dongle that has access to Play store and the ability to run XBMC would suit most. Other options include the Apple TV and the PS3. Each has its compromises.

Me and @macmilm have just purchased a Chinese knock off Chromecast. I know his turned up yesterday which means mine will follow.
Came to about £12 delivered and is more powerful than the Chromecast!

When macmilm gets back from thee shops, his wife sends him out whilst I service her, he might be able to give us a review..

Cheers for the edit Bobby - apologies about that.

What he said /\

Not had much chance to play with it but it streams from my plex server flawlessly ....

Surprisingly even streamed the home video I made of Goldberg's mrs ... which was obviously shot in extra extra WIDEscreen. god knows what bandWIDTH that was using !!!

Simple to setup... updates it's firmware itself with no issues.
Will post more info as I try more if anyone is interested.
