Been trawling the forums for days, I think my S10 had died. Tried flashing firmware via serial cable in order to try revive it, but not getting anywhere.
Anyone else had any luck raising an S10 from the dead?
Any help advice appreciated - Jarred

Just to add sequence of events
Box working perfectly fine for just over a year. Tried changing channels last week and it just locked up.
It wouldn't respond to remote, so hit the on/off switch at the box of the box. Then Nothing. No power.
Got Null modem cable (I've tested pins , so can verify its the correct cable)
Used STB EROM Upgrade V 2.0.0c. Connection details are all correct. Have tried almost every image for the S10 i can find.
I can connect o the box, messed around with timings but it ALWAYS results in error "Set stb memory error"

it duse sound like it needs flashing like your tring some times thay can be a pian to flash some times thay flash 1st time and uthere times it takes ages to get them working

Without exaggeration, Ive tried about 100 times so far.
Do I need the exact same firmware version that I had prior to it dying or will any (clone safe) firmware do?

If all else fails, think I'll be looking at getting the new SkyBox F5 HD

Great :-(

that sounds like a bad power supply,to die while being used

Think you're spot on Slugworth. Removed PSU and tested outputs with multimeter. The two 5V connectors on the board only output 2V, with nothing connected. If the ribbon cable to the Main board is plugged in all the outputs on PSU dont have correct voltage. So don't know if its just a PSU fault or something else as well.
Cant make up my mind as to replace PSU or stump up for a new Shiny F5 :lovestory

sell the s10 for parts to subsidize the new receiver purchase.
You won't see any new s10 firmware, they gave up supporting that receiver.

Bump,
I'm in a similar boat with a s10. Cut a long tail short I know my setup works fine (null modem & rs232) but this s10 will not connect for nothing. I bought a new PSU board and got it to bite once with stb eprom but it failed on the burn.
How do I test the PSU with a multi meter ?

tested the PSU's both the old one I thought was knackered and the new one and their OK. So if it's not the null modem or PC or PSU what else could it be ?

This's PSU of Oppenbox S10 may be important for you.

I saw my 1st dim8 receiver the other night, the 1st time in over 2 years of killing s10 receivers.
I had oddball firmware installed (where the front panel doesn't work) and noticed the dim8 on the front panel with the room completely dark.I never noticed it before.Since the receiver works 90% it is obviously the firmware doing it.

hi, i would just like to point out to make sure the firmware you are flashing is for your specific box, as my box was looping and when using the null modem cable with eprom software i was connecting to the box but was ending up with the error "stb memory" and realised that the software was for skybox f5s and not my one skybox f5 when i got the correct firmware everything ran smothly and works now.

so make sure its the correct firmware.

Same happened to my S16. Lucky the seller replaced for a new one but did you tried press and hold the power buton while trying to load the file by SR232 port?

supposedly the s16 has a jtag port(like the s9) but there is no program that will work with the ali 360x that I can get.
