Howdy,

Half asleep the other night I was reading about how to put new life into your old Wii...
I cashed in on my Wii many moons ago but do miss it. Zelda was probably the best game in many years I ever played!

So, sleep deprived I managed to bag a Wii from ebay with a broken drive for £6.50 <--- Yes really.
Machine apparently works, comes with all the accessories and I think I got a pretty good deal as the Wiimote probably fetches more than that alone!

I guess I have to ask the question, do I need to have a drive? When I had mine I had plenty of 'discs' but I imagine things have now moved on and can be played via another device?
A drive is probably still worth putting in though and therefore what will it cost and do I need a specific drive?

Cheers

new drive is about £20 mate but just softmod it and run usb loader.

I think this was the advice I was hoping for ;)

I have plenty of stuff I bought on the Nintendo Store that I am looking forward to retrieving and playing.
My current retro collection Physical (legit) and emulation is getting big enough to warrant a 'man cave' now ;) I feel a loft conversion coming on.

Softmod is the way to go but it is becoming more difficult finding ISOs. The popular titles are easily found but some of the lesser known games can be tough to find.
