RapidShare: 1-CLICK Web hosting - Easy Filehosting
the above file is for configuring the loader options it is a windows program

this is the loader program

http://rapidshare.com/files/327537722/wii_backup.rar
this is the file from W

http://rapidshare.com/files/327545584/USBLoaderCFG_NForwarder.zip
this is the channel forwarder to run from the wii menu on HDD.

install the loader from the root of sd card and the cfg50_fat.dol gets its name changed to boot.dol to replace the boot.dol in usbloader

install the forwarder wad with wad manager then copy all the installed files to the fat32 hdd root so it looks the same as the root of the sd card

make a folder on the usb hdd called WBFS this is where all your games go

these files are in a collectors account on rapidshare and do not need you to join a premium account

Is this absolutely everything that is required, or do you need something like bannerbomb still?

I want to install it straight on to a 2.5" external FAT32 HDD witout the SD card.

you have to mod the wii first so follow one of the guides for doing that first you will then have the homebrew channel and wad manager 1.5 on your wii

the files above are just the files to install the configurable usbloader the forwarder is for the wii channel menu
so you need a sd card but once the wii is hacked with the homebrew channel copy all the config usbloader files from the sd card to the usb hdd root and the games to a folder called WBFS and then there is no need for the sd card any more

Will this also work for the ntfs drives with the same steps? what with the newer version supporting ntfs

cheers

Hi,

I have copied the files from the SD card to the HDD. However i am unable to copy the .iso file into the WBFS folder as it says the file is too large.

Also, when the homebrew channel is launched, the bubbles appear, i then press start and the usb loader screen appears ( i think that is what it said) but it freezes on this screen.

So i have two problems at this time

1 - .iso file which is 4.7GB is too large to place in the WBFS folder that is on the FAT32 external drive (250GB).

2, stuck on the usb loader splash screen within the homebrew.

Sorry if this has all been asked before.

At this moment im just transfering my ISO files to my usb harddrive useing 'wii backup manager' dumping them in a WBFS folder which is making them smaller and able to fit :)
I hope this is the right way of doing it lol.

I'll give it a try on an ntfs drive shortly (If can talk the missus into letting me have some wii time :))

I take it then that with this "Configurable USB Loader" that you can still rip games from disc to the hdd direct from the wii. Didnt realise that had to convert .iso to a different file format too so thanks for clearing that up

Just looking at your instructions now but its got me a little confused. :Dunce:

install the loader from the root of sd card and the cfg50_fat.dol gets its name changed to boot.dol to replace the boot.dol in usbloader

In the first file Cfg_USB_Loader_50.zip there is a boot.dol file - but then there is a subfolder called "inSDRoot" which also holds a boot.dol file in the apps\usbloader folder.

So am I right in thinking then.....

1. Copy over the boot.dol that is NOT in the app folder of "Cfg_USB_Loader_50.zip"

2. At what stage do I change this cfg50_fat.dol file to boot.dol - and does this get copied to the SD card to be run - or just the hdd?.

install the forwarder wad with wad manager then copy all the installed files to the fat32 hdd root so it looks the same as the root of the sd card

3. I take it that you mean "installed files" as being those that are possibly made in a new subfolder on the SD card after the rest of installation has taken place

Mostly step 2 I'm most confused at? Also....any chance of a cfg50-ntfs.dol :)

ah pants - I've just read elsewhere - that though ntfs does work - it currently can't WRITE to the ntfs drives - so me copying all my pre-existing isos directly on the wii is out of the question. I presume it would be fine though to make a new iso from a disc with clonecd or whatever though and convert it that way

Anyone else find themselves writing replys that fail?

I've just written a large post and it fecking dissapeared after I clicked POST.

@ TBoy...

The software has an auto-update feature mate, so it'll take care of updates itself.

I'll prepare the files and folders exactly as they should be, simply unpack my file and copy the contents to your SD root.

Hmm, I can't file attach.

followed guide in the link which was very straight forward.

Thanks to all that have helped though.

this "configurable" USB Loader is different to the other one I'd tried called USB Loader. The other one I'd tried is a lot nicer looking imo...but this one is easier to manage without SD card and functional with options at least. I haven't tried the NSMB game test to make sure dont get the disc error but hopefully all will be fine :)

out of curiousity - after I got the above method working - I decided to then format my usb stick to NTFS and then copy the same files over to see what it would do.

On trying, it just reboots straight back to the system menu.

Wonder if this is because the forwarder file has been specifically configured for Fat32. I did try then changing the settings.cfg file to say NTFS but still no dice - oh well back to fat32 :)

AFAIK the forwarder just hooks to whatever boot.dol you have mate - perhaps the path is wrong though.

The old Forwarder is a Blue screen that just says USB Loader, the new one is a red screen with a picture of a switch.

The red one is better IMO.

Remember they are fully skinnable, lots of pre-prepared skins available if u are unhappy with your current one.

I never tried the NTFS option as I use the same HDD for my PS3 , Xbox360, Wii and TV. None of them support NTFS, FAT32 was my best option.
