Simplest way is to right click the iso and open with nero and let it burn @ 4x speed no faster to ensure a deep burn.

i use imgburn, nevr failed me yet, and burn at 4x or 6x max on ritek DVDR

sorry to hijack but maybe a stupid noob question. If I want to burn say Mario Kart (which is 4.77gb according to NFO) I have to use a DL disk?

no m8 the actual game file will be 4.34gb all wii games are the rest of the download will be a text file and nfo file you only need a normal size dvd and burn at 2x not faster

Ive used Nero on my first one at full speedd so Im going to see how that goes. Just because theres some saying burn at slowest and others maximum ... just sounds like its down to the recorders.

Do you need to run this thru any other software before burning it ???

I run all ISO's though WUM, to see what region they are, and to see if contain any updates for the Wii, it can also remove the updates like brickblocker.

brickblocker is a nice and easy tool to remove any updates and make a different region game safe, I used it on a SNK and Namco USA game that wouldnt work on a PAL Wii and it worked fine.

Does is matter if you use + or - DVD's ? or is it different for different hacks... i.e. I am using the softmod hack...

Do the iso's need to be patched for the softmod method ?
Is there a specific version of Wii firmware thats best or will any less than 3.2 do ?
I never connected my wii to the internet and its a few years old so it might have old firmware.

hi, not a hijak as such but asking the same questions :)
I'm new to the Wii scene, but been using modded Xboxs PSP and DS for some time, however...
i've tried burning a few games now using different software and different disc and can't get any to work..
i'ves used roxio but it seamed a bit temperamental, didn't like any of the disc i used (but the same disc work dine if i'm burning a movie oe somit).
So i went with my old fav alcohol 120 which burnt no probs at x4 speed
i've used TUFF DISC x8 -R, some unbranded DVD's and DATASAFE x16 -R but the Wii still says unknown disc.

any pointer/help would be muchly appreciated

SO if I DL a USA game, I just open the ISO in Brickblocker and press patch. Does it just chuck out an ISO that is safe to play on PAL that will not request an update to play?

I use Imgburn, it works with most compatible DVD's(DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-R*fastest on Wii, etc*), try Googleing it.

No, you run it through brickblocker to erase any system updates that may be on the game and attempt to install them on your Wii.

If the game is NTSC and you want to play it on a PAL Wii, then you need to run it through the other one (can't remember the name) and it just alters the ISO, it does't make another one.

All this is in the stickies though at the top...

I use regionfri and brickblocker and then burn using nero 7 x8 speed and never had a coaster yet.

Hi there,

Very good thread going on here.

I have put a little article together on how to burn a downloaded ISO wii game.

If you have any problems or struggle with the information already posted here then check out: How to burn a Wii game / iso | Colin Jensen

I hope this helps people who are still struggling :)

back to original post.

if using windows, use imgburn

on linux, brasero

this is the same process for any ISO (not just wii iso's), the only recommendation is to use DVD-R (Ritek dye), and burn slowly (X2).
