R4 card no longer working on 3DSXL

Hello there

Hassledmom (that's me!) needs some help please as 9 year old child thinks I am some sort of techy genius and can fix his DS problems.....

Purple R4 card worked beautifully until some new games were added to it - since then, nothing, just an error message when the card is inserted.

3DSXL
Firmware ver 4.5.0-9E
R4 card label says: R4, Revolution for DS, (NDSL/NDS)

That's about the extent of my knowledge - any help would be really appreciated - thank you!

mmm, are you sure about the card/console version?

r4 cards do not work on dsi or 3ds models at all....

r4 cards only work with dslites or dsphats.....

could u post pictures of the card and console you have..

also what size microsd card are you using?

Sorry about quality but hopefully it shows you what you need -
I'm now wondering if I've been given the wrong card back....

you most certainly have..

that card only works on dslite/dsphat consoles..


the only card that works with that console is called gateway3ds card... (for 3ds roms)
there are cards will allow you play ds/dsi roms on a 3ds though

a few things you should be aware of here....

1: gateway3ds card supports single rom only.
in other words, u can only put one game on sd card at a time.

2: the card in picture is worth less than a fiver, the gateway3ds cards costs around 60/70quid....

not sure how you have ended up with the card/console combination you have..

depending what r43ds you go for some will only work upto 4.5 i would go for the ace3ds card
uses the wood firmware and will work on all current versions of firmware
