your best bet would be to power up router then if you look at the back of it there is a reset switch, get a pen or small screw driver press reset and hold it in you will see the lights flash and change colour, once you have done this log into router 192.168.1.1 and follow the wizard. as for your laptop is it xp or vista you have installed.
