Having just got it (excellent BTW), it's just the location of the master socket that's an issue.

So, I'll be moving it next week. Anyone done this? How hard can it be lol

Oh well, I'll let you guys know how it goes :)

i done it but just left the other socket inactive as it would have never been used anyway
just took it off and joined the same coloured wires to each end

Is it FTTP or FTTC? if its FTTC then its an easy move... I took a cat5 cable and punched it directly into the data point and voice point, plugged that into a socket which I put next to it and sent it to my patch panel in the loft out of the way :)

FTTC M8. Already have a cable passing towards a redundant extension so I should be able to redeploy that :)

Only two wires are used to the master socket. You may remember bell cable being used instead of the 6/8 cores of nowadays. There may be three terminals in your master socket, E is seldom used. Unless there is a inbuilt filter in your master socket, you can plug the modem in the extension socket.

Master socket
Ports A and B. Does not matter which one you connect the cables into.

Extension Socket
Normally the blue pair is used. (It's just for identification.)

2 Blue with white stripe
5 White with blue stripe

This one is used for the ringer. (No capacitor in extension sockets)
3 Orange with white stripe
