Protecting your kids with Family Safety
Instead of blocking porn site, set a good list of sites that are allowed and everything else will be blocked. There is a pre-set list of sites set by some family safety group.
If your newphew wants to access a site, you will get an e-mail with the details and mom can approve or not.
more to the point what age is he.... please dont say hes over 20...
Sell the computer, it's the only way to totally stop it.
Dibbs, if the kid is above 12 then there is a good chance they will get around any protection you put on to stop them. You could set the parental guidance in internet options to high, and he wont be able to access any sites.
If kids are determined to look at these sites then there is basically nothing that you can do to stop them short of denying them computer access except when supervised.
The so called "Nanny" programs just dont work for a large proportion of todays computer savvy kids who often have far more computer expertise than their parents. Chances are, if a parent is having to ask how to block sites etc then their kid already knows far more than they do !
- set them up as user instead of admin so no installing extra apps
- password protect admin accounts and bios (so can't change boot order to boot from other device).
- Encrypt hard drive to stop it being accessed from alternate o/s
- lock down PC with parental controls, say net nanny or Live Family Safety
