as the title says whats everyones favourite free nzb sites, or do you choose to pay for a better service, iv found the free 1's have a great selection and good speeds, whats ur take on these and which is best for you!

anyone got any others???? i use merlins portal thats my only source really as iv just sorted the whole newsgroup downloads out!

any thing for free is good but after some people convinced me to try newsgroups i have never turned back i pay £23 every 3 months and that gives me a 500 day retention great for getting the older files but i suppose the free ones will allow you to get hold ov the new films ect but are they not limited to so many Mb?

nzbmatrix
nzbrus
my two top selections

as far as i know there not limited at all, only set it up about 2 weeks ago and iv downloaded well over 250 gb of stuff. which is more than good enough as when the novelty of the fast dwnloads go i wont be downloading half of that a month, lol!

I mainly use NZBmatrix, I donated $10 2 years ago for VIP and have downloaded over 10,000 NZB's.

For TV shows I use http://www.tvnzb.com/ I find that it's always the most uptodate for american and uk TV shows. It's got a really good search tool as well.

This site http://www.binsearch.net/ is a search engine for the newsgroups and it can make NZB's for you. But like every newsgroup search engine they only search through a specific number of newsgroups, normally between 500 and 1000 groups. There are over 100,000 active newsgroups.

This site - Welcome to INDEKLIT thé NZB website - has links to about 30 other NZB sites. Be careful though as I havent tried them so cant say if any of the links are dangerous.

NZB's are a newish thing, years ago there wasnt any NZB's and you had to download and manually scan through the headers to find stuff, and because NZB's are not automatically created by just uploading stuff to the newsgroups there is still lots of stuff that never make it on to any NZB website. Even newsleechers supersearch only searches through around 1000 groups, just the ones Spiril has been asked to include in the supersearch engine.

merlins portal is good enough for what i need it for, all i want it for is wii games and films, just have to make sure you check them every day as you dont get much retention out of the files older than a week or so, they normally fail, think i'll end up paying for a site when i get around to it, but for now the free 1's suggested are great?

Why don't you get alt.binz usenet client, this has searches incorporated into it. Very easy to use?

Cheers,

I mostly use nzbmatrix and binsearch. Matrix has 1000 days retention now and i think i paid about £5 years ago for a lifetime membership

^^^ Since the demise of newzbin I paid my one off $10 for nzbmatrix and not looked back. Great link in with sabnzbd as well so I can initiate one click download from anywhere in the world.

binsearch.net is more complete coverage and free but very very basic. I used it on the odd occasion I can't find stuff in matrix.

I had a look at newzbin again last week and they have changed quite a few thing and have potential to be great again. But not sure how much longer it is going to be around again, from news on their site,

In the least surprising news story of the week (after: "US government would like to have a beer With Julian Assange") it seems that the MPA are coming after Newzbin2. They are seeking an injunction requiring BT to block UK citizens accessing Newzbin2.

I have just linked sabnzb with my nzbmatrix account, so I don't even have to visit the web site to download my favourite tv shows, sabnzb checks the site for me and tag's the relevant shows to download. I just tell sabnzb which section to look in and which shows I want to download.

For finding stuff without a NZB I use newsleechers supersearch, and sometime I just download headers and browse through them (like old school pre-nzb times) (I've found more music without NZB's than with).
