Hi, ive jus got a samsung c6000 led tv and a panasonic sc - bt230 blu ray home cinema system.

My problem is i cannot get the sound from the tv to play through home cinema system.

If i play a dvd the sound comes out of the cinema system.

Ive connected the tv to cinema system using hdmi cable and digital optical cable.

Guy in the shop told me with a optical cable wotever is on tv play through home cinema system.

can anybody help?

im not familier with the tv and blu ray you mention but.... i know my tv doesnt output on the optical out until i switch the speakers off in the tv menu? might be the issue. if you look on the back of the bluray/amp where the optical plugs in it should be labled and maybe a corresponding button on the bluray/amp remote (possiably just input or similar) when the amp is on the correct channel to output the tv sound i would imagin it would display the lable on the front display. good luck

do you have the surround player on the right input setting mate ? as in mine has

line 1
line 2
aux

etc

my optical is on line 2

optical cable is in optical slot 2 and ive slected that on amp still nothing jus silent tho if i turn volume up on telly it stays slient but i can see the volume going up on the amp.

im wondering if it could be the optical cable is broken? there is a red light coming out of 1 end but not the other?

Just to check, on the tv you have it plugged into optical out.... (some have in and out)

On the amp you have it plugged into optical in ?

I ask this as ive plugged an out to an out before with optical lol !

there should only be red light coming out of the end when plugged in to the tv. if its pluged into the input of the amp there doesnt have to be light as its receiving the light not sending it.

theres only 1 optical port on tv and only optical 1 and 2 on amp no in or out.

ah ok the light is on the end that goes into amp.

Quick look at the manual say this, apparently you can only get 2 channel sound when passing through a HDMI source

0 DIGITAL AUDIO OUT (OPTICAL)
Connects to a Digital Audio component such as a Home theatre receiver.
When a Digital Audio System is connected to the DIGITAL AUDIO OUT (OPTICAL) jack: Decrease the volume of the TV and
adjust the volume level with the system’s volume control.
5.1CH audio is possible when the TV is connected to an external device supporting 5.1CH.
When the receiver (home theatre) is set to On, you can hear sound output from the TV’s Optical jack. When the TV is displaying a
DTV(air) signal, the TV will send out 5.1 channel sound to the Home theatre receiver. When the source is a digital component such
as a DVD / Blu-ray player / Cable Box / Satellite receiver (Set-Top Box) and is connected to the TV via HDMI, only 2 channel sound
will be heard from the Home Theatre receiver. If you want to hear 5.1 channel audio, connect the digital audio out jack on DVD /
Blu-ray player / Cable Box / Satellite receiver (Set-Top Box) directly to an Amplifier or Home Theatre, not the TV.
