cameras again use ur tv as a monitor
sound system possibly again using pc

thanks david you make it sound pretty simple, his setup seemed a bit more complex than that but then again i did say for 22grand cheaper......he had this big network box thingy in a cupboard controlling everything with cables running everywhere......think ill go for your way.

cheers.

I just use a rather long vga cable and 3.5mm lead for sound, cost quite a bit less than 25 grand, came to about a tenner lol

I believe this it the sort of thing you are looking for

Gefen EXT-HDMI-848 8x8 HDMI Matrix Switcher at Markertek.co.uk

its a matrixing hdmi splitter. With this you can break-out to each tv in your house with either long hdmi or twin cat5e extenders for longer runs. Now you can connect all your HDMI kit to this and share it in any other room. Why not use the leftover cash to buy an android tablet running vnc to control the pc in all the different rooms and get a bunch of virgin cable box remotes and mod them to RF for multi room control.

Well in budget and a lot less powerhungry than a noisy server cabinet under the stairs
