I currently have the Samsung HT-TX500R which includes 4 nice tallboy speakers

However if I decide to ditch the sub and dvd can I just connect these speakers do the Onkyo 507 amp I bought and buy a seperate sub? That will save me on spending £800ish on KEF KHT5005.2?????

Simple answer is most probably yes.

However just check the impedence of the speakers to see if they match the impedence of the amp.

Damn those speakers look like they need some food.

They going in the lounge?

Yeh already using them in my lounge at the moment and seems a waste to buy a new speaker pack when these do a perfectly good job... They look wider in real..

Havent a clue how to check impedence of the speakers but I think I read somewhere that Samsung purposley use low something so people dont split the package. For example I cant just ditch the dvd player and get a samsung blu ray player for some daft reason I would have to buy a whole new package!!

Samsung are not a speaker company, imagine trying to get a replacement driver if things were to go wrong with any one of those drivers, I'd think it would be quite a task. Buy from a specialist speaker and try and avoid these all in one jobbie's. I'm not saying that they don't sound great as they may well do, but I'd wager a bet you could do better for appx the same budget on separates.

Anyway your room is huge and I doubt that those speakers could fill it satisfactorily, I'd consider different speakers if possible. I rate speakers and the display source equally at the top of the food chain so I wouldn't skimp on these area's when planning. This is where you should be concentrating your efforts and where a decent proportion of your AV budget is spent alongside the TV.
