Right lol I want a play :)

I have been watching the stardraw videos (online tutorials) and I am very impressed!

I like the way you can write in C and take the hex codes and use them via RS232, USB, etc to control your equipment.

So I am about to order a small touch screen pad to try and play with stardraw (trail) as I am not ready to pay for this if I do not use it!

But I was thinking are there touch screens that are wireless ?

How easy would it be to integrate into existing setups ?

You don't need a touch panel to have a play m8, just use ya PC n Mouse Click, use ya Laptop for wireless, also when you say touch screen pad what do you mean.

If you really want to get the feel for a touch panel this is a cheaper option.

This is the Spec to run the client Gui:
System Requirements - Target Machine

The Target Machine is the computer that will run your control system, usually at your client's premises. In order to run the Standalone executable generated by the Stardraw Control 2010 design environment the following requirements must be met:

* Operating System:

* Windows 98SE
* Windows ME
* Windows NT4 with Service Pack 6
* Windows 2000
* Windows XP with Service Pack 1
* Windows XP Embedded
* Windows Vista
* Windows 7

or later.

* Microsoft.NET Framework 3.5
* Stardraw Control Machine Licensing Sub-System
* Stardraw Control Machine License (purchase required)
It's a shame no windows ce or mobile for PDA, Mobile use Yet.

You would be talking tablet PC or windows XP embedded device for your wireless touch pad.

Well I wanted a touch screen because if it worked I would mount it somewhere in the house, but that would also depend on what I can control etc... do not think there would be allot really.

Thanks mate... I will try and get a copy soon but do not want to download and it will run out within a few days and I have nothing ready to connect it too.

Regards

See this is the prob m8, LOL like me you like the toys n would like it for ya self but can't really justify it!

You need a project with a purpose have u seen this, I like the way he's justified it by claiming it's for the misses.

I will again labour the point a touch screen is just a monitor with a touch film sensor that replaces a mouse! You still need a PC! A Wireless Touch Panel is more like a Tablet PC, Crestron n AMX Touch Panels can only be used with a matched Control Processor you design the gui n upload to the panel using their software! I don't think your an idiot I just want to make sure you understand what it is your buying.

I know what you mean about trials, I'm gonna try my luck on Wednesday he has an account with RGB. Also did you see this!

Yeah I was looking at the online ones that are soon, and also the hungerford ones... but that would be about 2 hour drive would need to know what I have planned before I could commit.

I know I need a PC and that to work with a touch screen.

I have a Mini ITX I wanted to place next to my living room equipment that has eithernet cables there.

Infact lol, I wanted to put the mini itx in my van lol... still might.

But thanks very much for the info, learning things at my age is not so easy now :(

Now that sounds a project, like to see that thread! I'm a MiniITX Fan.

No worries n I'm no spring chicken m8 LOL I know what you mean, It's no Fun not remembering until your realy old n senile n you can't remember you forgot it!!!! PMSL I'm on me way :proud:

I'm going to be implementing that iphone inspired touchscreen in my kitchen Mickey, I'll probably be installing it in two or three weeks time so keep an eye out then and watch me bodge it up. I'm looking out for the touch screen panels on the bay, if I don't nab one in the next two weeks I'll just order a new one retail.

I think the only wireless options are if you go the pro route (Crestron etc) or opt for an ipaq/pda type device which has built in WiFi. I'll be needing two of these come the end of my install so I look forward to whatever contraption you end developing.

Try not to talk to Hejira too much, every time he posts in my HT thread I end up spending money, infact maybe as admin you could just bar the fooker and we can go back to watching CRT's played back on our Ferguson Videostars, ahh happy days.
