I am buying optomo hd65 3d once released with shutter lcd glasses.
I have a core 2 1.86 pc so need a new graphics card but i am only wanting for games on the xbox.
Can i stream 3d movies through xbox in 3d (if they 3d movies) as i know avatar is going to be 3d on xbox.
Also i found alternative shutter lcd glasses to nvidia(http://www.widescreen-centre.co.uk/Catalogue/Shutter_Glasses.html )at half the price so does it matter which shutters i buy as i want 3-4 sets for family movies and at £100 nvidia a bit steep.
Any advice on this appreciated as i think i will buy all other aspects so i am ready for optomo release.
Also am i coreect in assuming you need the hdmi version of xbox for this to work

I'm afraid most PJ's simply don't handle 3D presentations very well and none as far as I know are '3D ready'. The HD65 is a great PJ for the money but don't rule out the Infocus X9 if you can get it for a similar price.

So far as those glasses go they look a little gimmicky, I would urge that you try before you buy, they really look like modern version of the Tomy Tronics from yesteryear.

thanks for input munkey.
The hd65(3d) is releasing an updated projector for 3d (120hz) Christmas which they say is simply firmware but they are waiting for blueray 3d definitions(or something like that).
at the moment i have a pjtx 100 hitachi and although hd is dated and picture not as it once was .
I am going to see 3d up today but i loved the 3d at alton towers and believe its the same technology.
At worst i will have a 120hz projector which will be good for sport .
Also at 120hz i think you dont get sore head as its 2x 60hz.
the only thing putting me of is price of shutter lcd glasses but still cheaper than running dual pj with filters
cheers chronoman

You're right about about running dual PJ's with lens attachments, the closest thing to real 3D would be two CRT PJ's stacked (I think someone over at AVS has done this already and I think they were G90's)

I guess the 120hz will help for sport but for 3D content it's way too early to think that it will work well in a budget PJ environment. First generation products are usually very buggy anyway. If you can get 120hz just with a firmware upgrade then that is great news, if not then there is always your next upgrade to look forward to.

I wonder what source players will be able to play 3D content, will current DVD and BluRay players be good enough? Also does HDMI have enough bandwidth for 2 x 1080p streams? It's all very complicated but next year we should see more clarification from manufacturers of hardware as well as content producers. Even Sky are launching their own 3D channel lol

Either way keep us posted on your 3D project. I tried with polarised glasses, my HD1 and Sharp 12k and both were pants lol.

Well at last i am getting into 3d world.
Just purchased
Acer H5360 3D Video Projector + GeForce 3D Vision Glasses + 1 xtra set of shades so i aint billy no mates.
I havent got a geforce card yet but i believe Avatar runs 3d on xbox so will test on elite once home.
Been waiting months for this so getting excited now.
For anyone interested i found pixmania cheapest with discount codes and deal.
Will post pics once i swap the projectors over with standard pic quality ets
cheers chronoman:banana:

Hmmm I'd be very interested to hear your thoughts chrono, please keep us updated.

i would buy 2 spare pairs they are only £41
lol

well i got the 2 sets and projector for £632 delivered which i thought wasnt bad as cheapest projector i could find was £530.
I paid £1000 for my hitachi pjtx100 4 -5 yrs ago so i class this as good value.
Also watching football at 120 hz should be brilliant and my old projector is going up into loft where my golf sim is getting set up.
This has been a few yrs dream that is starting to come together as i have just finished boarding rafters with celotex.
I need to find out how much it will cost for a pc for living room for playing cod waw as that and left for dead are meant to be ace but since i got me xbox consoles i just got basic 1.86 core duo with 2 gig memory .
If it works well i will need another 2 pairs of glasses as well but still cheaper than running 2 projectors and as i have all cables buried in living room i couldnt do that option.
Not back from rigs till 21 st so doubt i will have much done before christmas as wife will freak .

cheers chronoman

Well
eventually got me projector setup and running (pics to follow).
I had problem with dvi to hdmi convertor (faulty) and ended up building a completely new htpc computer using and i5 processor and other items to compliment processor.
My lowest spec is my hard drive now but will be purchasing a solid state soon.
the acer h5360 is excellent in clarity without 3d and also once 3d is switched .
I have a bluray/hdvd dvd player coming with another set of glasses and i should just about be there .
the 3d nvidia games are nothing short of stunning and with my xbox peripheral adon to pc makes gaming easy.
I havent tried many games yet and am back offshore but am happy with what i have and looking forward to blockbuster movies coming out shortly.
Anyone got any questions please ask but would totally recommend acer h5360 projector

cheers chronoman

LMAO, Yeah I got a puncture the other day so bought a new car.

Look forward to seeing your pics mate, I don't know anyone that has setup 3D successfully.

lol
The wording sounds like that.
I had a dual core 1.86 and added an nvidia gt 240 but system wasnt really up to what i wanted then i do what i do and start budget and end up higher spec, the hdmi connector is different issue as i got all me cables buried and projector screen also under alcove.
I think all in i am about £1200 although the screen and cables were all in place as had hitachi lcd projector before but was showing age and that cost me £1000 and not is this setup league
Still awaiting decent 3d movies though avatar 3d trailer is good as well as imax .
Just got bluray player and some movies coming but no big movies meant to be out till after summer.
Pics are a week away as i am offshore just now but will show all aspects of projector.
I really would recommend the acer though as even the standard pic is so sharp and i can keep the lights on now and doesnt effect image

I really look forward to seeing those images mate.

How would you compare the experience to the cinema, how far off is it from an auditorium experience?

Have you seen any Disney 3D content such as Bugs life?

This is all very exciting.

As far as the medusa 3d(nvidia) i would say it was better than cinema but you can download the 2d version you will see the resoloution is incredible.
I dont have any bluray 3d movies and in fact have just bought legit movies from 3d ireland guy on ebay my 1st 3 dvd stereoscope full lenth movies.
Ther is a really good 720p res 3d rhine valley dvd which i downloaded which is very impressive but i have got very bored with it.
Only my 2.5 yr old and myself are really excited avout this although i think with my boy its more to do with wearing the glasses as sometimes he wears the real 3d ones(dont work) and he is still happy
I am getting wife to take some pics from iphone and mail me .
If they are half decent i will post to let you see standard resoloution.
As far as 3d i dont know if i took still of 3d being projected if it would do system any favours but i will wait till i get home for that .
cheers for interest chronoman

b.t.w the other projector is going in loft for my full golf sim but thats a different story .lol

heres some pics.
not brill as wife took them and has never been much use at photos but give the basic setup.
tv is 37" for reference

Is that 8' wide? You're right pics never do an image justice unless it's a properly set up shot with correct camera settings.

I do look forward to how you get on as more 3D content is released.

So what's this golf sim all about, are you going to lake faux grass in your loft :)

i got a p3 pro golf sim a few yrs back(single) which i played in living room with projector .
i have had the project ongoing for last 3 yrs and plan was always to get it up and running in loft and with new projector 3d an excuse and old lcd projector getting little tired for high def but good for 800x600 sim.Cash for insulation always issue as i didnt see any benefit (not a toy) from it directly.

I have been boarding in between rafters with celotex and loft is boarded,i also put ring main up there and moved my water tank to the side to allow swing area for net/projector screen.
I have been taking pics over last few months but am now requiring structural engineers assistance as i need to removemove cross beams .
I have had people say you can move them up but to get full golf swing i need to completeley remove 4 cross beams and need to find out if i can do this and what support structure needs .
have put little pic in i found on net to make more sense.
the golf project has always been main goal.
hope your still awake.lol
will post loft pics also when i get home.
my house is a 1938 ex council build and loft is floor space of 3 double bedrooms and large bathroom.
If you know any structural engineers help would be appreciated.lol

Projector screen size looks sweet, Do you feel surrounded by the 3D Projections?

Don't suppose you were back in time to watch the Sly 3D Football?

I Luv the Child Proof Railings or is that just for the full Movie Premiere effect! LOL

What a great Project the Golf Sim, hope u get sum sound avdice on the structual work, that would just be a nightmare not to get right.

LMAO, wtf is that a pic of Chrono?

You're in luck pal, I was a builder back in the day and am currently building my house complete with a Rocky Balboa HT and Loft games room. In fact I think I'll start a thread on it :)

Let me know what help you need, I can tell you what to cut and what not to touch, facking n00bs you lot, if left alone your house would come crashing down. Post some pics and I'll do my best to help, I'll also get a structural engineer to check them out for you if you want peace of mind.

Munkey have you started the thread on loft yet?
Will need to get some pics once home again but i am going to get structural engineer in as i dont want to let the roof fall in but didnt do anything this time home but of for month next time
Hejira the wife is childminder and i am always mucking about with cables/new toys so railing right round danger area was best option.
I didnt get sky 3d broadcast and not sure how the projector would work as all is synced with computer to projector not from 3dtv .
Got some decent 3d movies and got the imax 3d movies working superb once i realised i should project aspect of 4:3 and not 16:9 and guitar hero is probably my favourite game for fun.
If anyone reads this in future and is looking for 3d movies (field sequential) lemme know as am slowly building collection
cheers chronoman
