got my laptop rigged up to my tv via an HDMI lead, i have the picture and the sound is coming through the laptop, but i would like the sound to come through the tv instead.

how can i do this, i dont want surround sound, just stereo as its for the football.

cheers

On my TV, I need to tell it whether or not to expect audio via HDMI, I can chose HDMI audio or old fashioned phono sockets.

Also make sure that your laptop is actually sending the audio over HDMI, it may not do it by default.

it sends the audio on hdmi input 1 from my v+ box(i think my tv auto-detects as i can have the tv speakers and the surround sound on at same time)

i choose the hdmi input 3 for laptop so may try and use port 1 instead.

my laptop is hp pavillion 9000 series so how and where can i find to turn that option on if there is an option?

Sounds like the lappy isn't supplying the audio on the cable then.

Not sure how to enable it mate, but I'm sure it's controlled by the OS, so if you could tell us what OS you have someone might know.

on vista mate but i do have a svideo output but that wont supply sound either will it???? plus i dont have the cable for that.

ill try on the hdmi port 1 and if that doesnt work it looks like ill have to get the pc speakers rigged up to the laptop.

cheers mate

You need to change audio output on laptop to audio out via hdmi. Just go to sound settings if option isn't there you need to install the driver.

S-Video is horrible compared to HDMI mate, so it's not an option if you want HDTV.

Does your TV not have phono inputs on the rear?

If you don't get the HDMI audio sorted then running a long 8mm stereo audio lead from your soundcard to the phono sockets on your TV will give you basic Stereo.
