Removing/replacing the Samsung chip

These short clip was sent to me by notaclue2 and it shows the removal of the offending Samsung chip in solo 2 clone box and then a new one being fitted/soldered.
It dosnt show much but they may help somebody and as it goes seems pretty straight forward to do..if you have the tools.

Hi AJT

Does this mean that the motherboard V1 has Samsung chip?
What is a chip in V2?

regards

I mean, can I replace the chip in V1 ?
If yes, on how to replace?

regards

That's as much as I know..it's not a given that all the chips are the same in all boxes.
My advice is if your box has the chip fault send it back and save yourself a lot of problems.

Seller does not want to replace the chip.

Jeezo..i was going to say this brought back some memories of when i removed and replaced 48 pin tsops on virgin modems and boxes in the past but a few minutes into that video i could clearly see that is definately not how to do it.

For a start he seemed to ragdoll the chip off with those daft grippers which could damage the pads and the chip,i always used feeler gauges used by mechanics to gently lift one side at a time,he then put his hot air gun slap bang on the chip which should have melted the chip or even damaged the board...no flux used and no reflow of pads either but to top it all off he started welding the legs together with solder..ffs lolz

Not sure if i can help help out some poor sods with thier bricked boxes but i have a willem and a clanzer reader of old times that i can dust the cobwebs off..i assume my chip readers will identify these chips on the solo2...does anyone know if the original chips are read/write protected

My box had Samsung chip.
*The new chip I got from the manufacturer of the box is a Toshiba chip.

But in it is version BH 2.0.7.. Do you know if this chip has "read only" drivers and can upgrade the image?
