OK Ive had itchy shins for years theres no rash are anything just a terrible itch a scratch em all night.

Doctor says it might be nerves I used to be an alcoholic so I never used to be really botherd as the alcohol used to numb it out but now that im sober its killing is and I cant get rid of it its also round my lower back.

I use non bi wash powder and dettol soap with no perfumes and its still not helping.

Is it really stress related Ive been through a lot over the last year has anybody had this problem ?

If youve had it what helps it ?

Any Ideas chaps

Try body lotion mate, the missus has had this a while but its her back and shoulders and good body lotion seems to calm it down, originally the skin irritation was due to the fooking numpty doctor prescribing her coedine phosphate, even after I spoke to him about it. Her skin also itches more when she's stressed out, also hot water (showers, bath) seems to irritate it further (poss due to skin capilliary dilation).

Another thing to think about is she's ok when we use Ariel washing tabs but put her near Daz and she's ripping her skin off.

Hope this helps a bit mate as I've seen how stressed and annoyed she gets about the irritation.

Booze may have summat in the mix as booze helps dilate the blood vessels.

Best wishes

around your lower back too? could be nerves/a form of sciatica.

maybe look at some sort of stretching/physiotherapy to help improve fitness/bendyness!

i've got a ruptured disc in my back pressing on my nerve, gives me bizarre pain/feelings all down my leg and into my foot.

i got it on my lower back, doctor gave me stinking cream i mean it stunk BUT i had it for about two years...it went away 3 weeks after i got the cream i just wish i had went to docs sooner

if you get hold of some anti allergy tablets try these
it might take the itching away and let you get a good nights sleep
get the ones with cetirzine hydrochloride in them

itchy shins could have a large number of causes. you could have scabies, you could be allergic to something you are wearing, eg your socks or the washing powder you use to wash them, or you could be allergic to something you are eating. it could also be caused an iron or Vitamin A deficiency, or liver or kidney problems.

you could also have eczema, which is made worse by stress. scratching the itch only causes a vicious circle, as it breaks the skin and causes more of an itch when its healing again. so if you can possibly not scratch for a couple of weeks and put some e45 cream or something similar on it and see if the situation improves. try putting the cream on before going to bed, wrapping your shins in clingfilm and wearing a pair of cotton socks over it until the morning. if the situation hasn't improved after a week or so of this go back to the doctor and ask him to take a look at it again.

use to get itchy shins from sitting nxt to an electric heater

i suffer from itchy legs quite alot, cos of kidney failure. I couldn't sleep some nights, and it felt like my skin was crawling. i started using sanex moisturisng wash about a year ago, this has helped alot towards the discomfort.
