Blind Scan on 53° East Missing Several Transonders.

Last week I performed a blind scan on the Express-AM22 satellite at 53°East. At that time, it never crossed my mind that this might have not picked up some transponders.

Then, yesterday evening, I noticed on a certain website that the Barcelona footie match was being aired live and fta on 1TV Afghan. I knew that this particular channel had not been picked by the blind scan and so I thought I wasn't able to receive it. Anyway, I decided to scan its transponder and to my great delight it came in quite strongly.

This morning, I was successful in scanning in an additional 6 transponders from this satellite although each only carries one channel. Here's a list of these 'missed' transponders and channels together with their Signal Qualities.

The common theme running through the parameters of these transponders is their very low symbol rates and I assume this is the most likely reason why my TM5402 missed them. However, a couple of other transponders also have low symbol rates and so why were these picked up?

It's a known issue, TM are looking into the blndscan issue.
Seems to be anything below 3000 I think.

The last time I updated Express-AM22 at 53.0°E (a couple of weeks ago) there were quite a few transponders that I had to enter manually because the Blind Search couldn't detect them... eventually I managed to get 65 channels (including feeds) from 44 active transponders...

I always refer to the FlySat charts as they seem to be the most reliable/up-to-date

manic01 is quite right... the TM 5402 HD Blind Search will sometimes detect transponders with Symbol Rates below 3000 but not on a regular basis... it's very hit-and-miss... the lowest Symbol Rate I've detected using Blind Search on my receiver is 2500 ...but this isn't achieved very often... it's very frustrating mate...
