Hi all,

AzerSpace 1 at 46.0°E (Europe Beam)

This is a new satellite and is currently in test mode... but reports and official footprints suggest that reception of the Ku Europe Beam will be possible in the UK with 80cm~90cm dishes...

However... this new satellite is going to have to contend with some powerful signals coming from Intelsat 12 (45.0°E) on one side and Intelsat 10 (47.5°E) on the other side... so this raises the question as to which transponder/frequency range/s the new satellite is going to employ...

The transponder/frequency ranges currently employed by the satellites either side of AzerSpace 1 are...

Intelsat 12 at 45.0°E (11.400 GHz ~ 11.700 GHz / 12.500 GHz ~ 12.750 GHz)

Intelsat 10 at 47.5°E (11.400 GHz ~ 11.700 GHz / 12.500 GHz ~ 12.750 GHz)

So I think it is safe to say that AzerSpace 1 is going to have to use one or both of the following transponder/frequency ranges in order to prevent signal over-spill from it's very close neighbours on either side...

AzerSpace 1 at 46.0°E (10.700 GHz ~ 11.400 GHz / 11.700 GHz ~ 12.500 GHz) ?

I've been regularly scanning the transponder/frequency ranges (above) but I haven't seen any activity so far... Flysat reported (a few days ago) that there was one active transponder/frequency on this satellite (10.956 V 6666) showing a promo video... but I could not locate it... and the report soon vanished from their listings...

Has anyone else on the forum scanned for activity on this new satellite...?

Best Wishes,
Zorch

not getting anything here zorch, i have will keep an eye on her.

Been scanning here for the last week nothing here atm from 46 east until they fire up the European beam lets hope it is a bit more active that YahSat 1A @ 52.5 east that also has a very strong European beam when it was active,

The only other activity I have found at this end of the belt is a data stream from approx 48 east 11597 H 4214 that may be from Eutelsat 48C.

ive just done a scan and picked up the 2 data txp,s on 11.125.H.10000 and 11.135.H.10000 and the signal is steady at 8.5db although i cant get 10.975.H.28500 which has channels on board... all three txp,s are listed as being on the asia beam

FlySat AzerSpace 1 / Africasat-1A @ 46° East Beams

very strange indeed!! maybe the data txp,s are infact on the european beam, regards mdt

Hi again all,

I have been monitoring this satellite for the last few days and it's very confusing... I have attached some pictures and a brief description of what each is illustrating...

Picture #1
Shows the average level of Signal Quality I achieve on transponder/frequency 10.975H 28500
The Signal Quality reading on this transponder/frequency troughs on my receiver around 35%
The Signal Quality reading on this transponder/frequency peaks on my receiver around 53%
However I haven't had a signal lock on this transponder/frequency as yet... probably because it's on the Asia Beam and my Fibo dish is just not big enough to receive this beam... however Flysat now reports that all of the channels that were located on this transponder/frequency have now left...

Picture #2
Shows the Blind Search Scan settings I am using (11.090H~11.160H) and my receiver seems to indicate active signals about every 4 MHz ...and as mdt states in the previous post... the high Signal Quality readings must be an indication that they are coming from the Europe Beam

Picture #3
My receiver locks and stores transponder/frequency 11.125H on a Blind Search Scan but assigns it with a Symbol Rate of 45000 ...however when I change the Symbol Rate to 10000 the transponder/frequency shows a locked signal... 11.134H is also locked and stored on a Blind Search Scan again with a Symbol Rate of 45000 ...and again when I change the Symbol Rate to 10000 the transponder/frequency shows a locked signal...

Picture #4
My receiver also locks and stores transponder/frequency 11.156H on a Blind Search Scan but yet again assigns it a Symbol Rate of 45000

Picture #5
Shows the same transponder/frequency 11.156H as in Picture #4 ...but this time there's no signal lock when I change the Symbol Rate to 10000 ...so I changed the Symbol Rate to 46000 and the transponder/frequency then shows a locked signal... however my receiver is unable to store the Symbol Rate 46000 ...all I get is the message: Invalid Symbol Rate Try again !!

I hope this may be of Interest to some members...

Best Wishes,
Zorch

Just tried a scan with TM6900HD Super+ 100cm set up
Getting a good signal on 11129 H 20000 may be a data stream ?

Hi again Merliin,

Getting a good signal on 11129 H 20000 may be a data stream ?

You've beat me to it mate... I was just about to report the same...

11.128 H 20000 DVB-S2 8PSK

Most probably on the Europe Beam if Signal Quality is anything to go by... but no associated channels sadly...

TM 5402 HD CI+ Super+
Signal Strength 97%
Signal Quality 71%

according to flysat the bouquet of channels at 10.975.H.28500 and the data stream at 11.125.H.10000 have now both left over the last 36 hours and they had them listed on the aisa beam. maybe these are just test broadcasts to see how the sat is shaping up in action, regards mdt

Hi again all,

The Signal Quality has increased today on...

10.975 H [28500] 5/6 DVB-S QPSK [Central Asia Beam]

TM 5402 HD CI+ Super+
Signal Strength 97%
Signal Quality 59%

@Merliin, digi247, mdt
Are you able to lock this transponder now...?

I've also noticed that this Vicus Luxlink Package is on...

Yahsat-1A at 52.5°E
11.881 V [27500] 5/6 DVB-S QPSK [East Beam]

not a sniff m8 on any of them. regards mdt

No lock here just the bouncing red quality bars @ 34 to 43%

on

10.975 H [28500] 5/6 DVB-S QPSK [Central Asia Beam]

Not a sniff here in nw. 1m orbital, black ultra, 6800 s+ quality 7-10%

Hi again all,

This transponder is now as strong as/stronger than some of the transponders on
Eutelsat 25C at 25.5°E ...and most of you achieve reception on those... so I can't see why reception of this transponder on this satellite should be so elusive...? I would have thought that the Signal Strength/Signal Quality readings on these two satellites are quite comparable...

I don't know if this will help... but I always locate this satellite position by selecting 11.468 V 30000 on Intelsat 12 at 45.0°E and peak the signal... then I tweak the dish East (Move Fine) one step at a time until the signal on 11.468 V 30000 is on the very edge of that transponders' peak signal... only then do I swap satellites to AzerSpace 1 at 46.0°E and look at the 10.975 H 28500 transponder...

Zorch

hi -
been trying on and off today for 10.975 H [28500] using a channel master 1.2 into M3 skybox --- nothing -- untill about half an hour ago, managed to lock the signal and download channels,
not a watchable picture though - heavily pixelated .
maybe it will strengthen into the evening ?

regards nelsonb

i take it your @nelsonb from the other forums, welcome to DW,regards mdt

i just randomly came upon the name of this forum the other night - and came for a look, and saw a few names i recognised :)
cant believe i,v not come across DW before now - its a well established forum - it seems .

cheers --

Hi nelsonb,

Obviously you'll have no trouble with reception of this transponder on your 1.8m dish...

reception is fine on that dish -
i,m experimenting with l.n.b,s and trying to fine tune and get the best out of the channel master 1.2. -
i thought this transponder might be strong enough to catch with this dish . its only just though - still nowhere near watchable

regards - :)

Hi again nelsonb,

I've just moved my dish to the satellite... and my Signal Quality on 10.975H 28500 has increased to...

TM 5402 HD CI+ Super+
Signal Strength 97%
Signal Quality 61%

This is the strongest reading I've seen...
