Big toaster.

Bit like a reverse Tardis, bigger on the outside than the inside! Supposed to take four slices but I reckon Chinese slices must be smaller.

Anyway, got a bit hyper this morning ...

Seems a shame to destroy a decent looking kitchen like that. Looks way better than mine, mine's closer to pic 2. :)

What you can't see in Pic-1 is the water damage on the bases, the repairs I've had to do to stabilise it and the fact it's 30 years old. The entire house is an ongoing project so, when I'm really ancient, I'll have no worries!

Well, if it wasn't bust yesterday it sure is now!

A blank canvas, empty shell. First job tomorrow, while waiting for the units, is to do something about that plumbing abortion below.

image.jpg

The incoming main just HAD to be in the centre, right in the path of the appliance so it will have to be moved. It could be wet!

We're a bit off where we're aiming!

Left and right respectively - just cooking dinner on a camping stove tonight...

Should have used it for an excuse for an Indian hh.

The gear turned up today. Always takes up more space than you expect so I made plenty of room. Still overflowed a bit.

image.jpg

I'm behind the boxes, there's a chair there somewhere, lost the telly!

image.jpg

Got some stuff in after a fight, day one with the gear is always a bit of an 'Oh sh*t' sort of day.

Tea should be interesting from the temporary kitchen, beans on toast again?

Still a disaster zone but getting there...

Looking forward to moving the incoming water main tomorrow, especially since nobody can find the isolation outside. High-pressure 'cut an shut', wet and messy lol

Oops, forgot the most important pic!

The wine chiller...

Your going to lose the tiles on the floor aren't you? there must have been a job lot of them going around same as what we have in ours only more of them!!

Where did you buy the kitchen from? we had one firm round and before he even started he was like this little section of you kitchen will cost easily 10k but its a big kitchen so will cost more.. showed him the door :D

Yep, tiles will be gone. Quotes for kitchens seem to be a minefield. I have an account at Howdens Joinery so I got one of their designers out and told her not to p*ss about with prices, just go straight for the deal!

The comparative quotes kicked off around £22k and never got below £13k. A large glass of Shiraz helped with the shock!

Which is why I always prefer to have a bespoke kitchen built by a good local chippy. Works wonders for the blood pressure and the wallet.

(I hope the Shiraz wasn't chilled!)

Good Lord no! The Shiraz was at room temperature and the quotes were binned - Howdens initial quote was good :)

Did a similar thing about two years ago. All by my own feeble hands but I forgot to take the before photo because it was so awful. A 1993 kitchen left to rot for about 19 years.

Anyway, here's the result of my DIY project...

and the last, sorry2012-01-18 17.34.24.jpg2012-01-18 17.34.35.jpg2012-03-10 16.10.26.jpg

This also omits the hidden part of the kitchen which for some odd reason I didn't take photos of.

And just for a comparison, this is my normal workDSCF0650.JPG

I feel far more comfortable working with this
