yale are very basic systems, and the bell box are usually battery powered only, check out the response systems in screwfix good quality systems and the bell boxes have a solar panel to recharge the batteries.

Be careful - You get what you pay for !!!!
I would recommend either Visonic or Scantronic
Scantronic i-on : Scantronic I-ON16 Wireless Alarm Kit
Visonic Powermax:Visonic PowerMax+ Wireless Intruder Alarm - Kit 4 : Read reviews and compare prices at Ciao.co.uk

Above are just to give you an idea of what you need - Shop around for price or try Welcome to ADI Global Distribution | ADI-GARDINER These are trade suppliers with branches nationwide.

Thanks guys, the alarm systems you have recommended above do have good reviews and appear to be the real thing.

do you guys have any thoughts around the Friedland Platinum SU range which is on 868MHz frequency which is less congested, I am looking at this model: Response Alarms: Response Electronics Wireless Burglar Intruder Alarms - SK5 Friedland Platinum 3rd Generation Wireless Alarm System

I can see this on ebay going for around 130 brand new. Are these Rsponse systems any good? its probably not as good as Scantronic and Visonic systems.

my budget is around 200 - I need 4 PIR sensors and autodillar functionality

One of the most effective ways that you can do in order to secure you, your family and your home from burglary and other crimes is by installing a home burglar alarm systems. These systems can effectively thwart off any criminals who have a dark motive to enter your home and steal from you or commit other more serious crimes.

Another bad review for Yale. Just pointless. In the time you've got to turn it off, anyone could pull it off the wall and smash it to pieces. Anyone with any thieving skill would quickly defeat it I think. Also consider that you are highlighting that you have good stuff to steal by putting the box up in the first place.

edit: If you do go Yale, I could probably dig out the PIR sensors, I don't think they got binned with the rest of it.

I wouldn't touch a wireless alarm system with a barge pole, you can't beat a hard wired system, that you know you can rely on and fault test if necessary.

I suppose the wiring is the main objective but if you fit it properly so this is discreetly hidden in the corner of the wall and seal with decorators caulk then its near invisible.

Re: wireless burglar security alarm systems - which one?

I'm with stevie on this.Basic wired alarms are not difficult to install and if u plan it well, your cable runs can be minimised although u may have to compromise a little on your pir locations.Reliability and flexibility is much greater
