So having got the main PC build I'm now trying to decide on what monitors to use. I'm trying to choose between either dual 27" wide monitors or dual 29" Ultra wide monitors. The 2 main models I have in mind are the Asus SonicMaster MX279H 27" or the Asus SonicMaster MX299Q 29" Ultra wide. Any recommendation or advise on this would be appreciated guys.

I know that the on the ultra wide monitor you use loose of inch in height but I've never seen one in real life so it's hard for me to tell. Also the Asus MX279H has a 1920x1080 Resolution while the Asus MX299Q has a 2560x1080.

I use dual 19" 4:3 screens at work, and dual 21" 8:5 (16:10) at home. And I used to run a 16:9 with a 8:5 screen.

The only time I ever noticed a difference was when I was switching from one screen to the other on the mismatched screens.

By which I mean, as long as your screen size and resolutions match, you probably won't pay it much attention once it's set up.

However, on a tri-screen setup, there is something to be said about having extra real estate on the central screen compared to the peripheral screens. For example; going UW, higher def and/or bigger screen on the middle display.

we tried 2 x 23" ultra wide screens at work (couple of Dell monitors) and TBH its just too wide to comfortably work sitting so close. It's like you are constantly moving your head. Settled for two 24" standard HD widescreens and that is fine.

I get what you mean, 29" ultra wide might be just extreme. So will probably try 2 x 27" monitors.

I prefer 4:3 monitors and have two 19" at work and used to have two 19" here but after the last well overdue upgrade I got two LG 27EA33 which are 27" just because they were a good price :). I do a bit CAD work and the end of my secondary monitor does seem a good distance away :S. You also need a large desk!

It does look the part though .

Run mine through HDMI into 42 inch LG television.

I'm having a work station desk in the room and also in future there will be a 42" - 55" TV on the wall as well. Will post pictures of the room once is all completed.
