hello all

I have an indesit iwc61455 washing machine , it was ok yesterday but today when the mrs put it on the lights are as normal but it will not fill or anything.
I have take the kick plate off and emptied what water was in and make sure the pump wasn't blocked and I have now managed to get the door open and remove the washing and now when I try it it goes to try and fill but stops after like a second.
I have googled to try and find out info but there is not much on there.
can anyone help or if there are any washing machine repair ppl on here please advise on things to try.

I automatically thought of the brushes but thought the washer would still fill and go through cycle?

thanks for any help

Is the machine old? It could be as simple as a blocked water level sensor (pressure switch). If the pipe to this switch are blocked, the machine will think it's already full of water hence not take any on.

It will look a bit like this with wires attached, it will be near the top of the machine.

UNPLUG MACHINE!! Pull the thin pipe off & blow down it. If tub is empty you shouldn't feel much resistance- unless it's blocked!

hi and thanks for the reply

it is a strange one to be honest as now when I close the door it does not always lock but when I get it to lock it does try to put water in but stops , so I really don't understand the fault at all now!

hi,i had same problem and replace door lock but did not cure the problem,i took the top of the machine and there is a circuit board, after I check it there was black burn marks on it,price a new one that was over £100, cheaper to buy a new machine

if the door is locked and nothing is happening its the motor brushes

ALL machines. First job when they go wrong is pop off the kick-plate at the bottom and clean the filter out. It usually just removes by a quarter to half turn and, if it's blocked, stops everything. Do that bit first :)

Hmm he already did that, reread first post ;)

I did M8, he said emptied water out. Said nowt about cleaning the filter? Sorry to be pedantic but it doesn't take much to stop them doing their stuff?

He said he made sure it wasn't blocked? Same thing surely

I had a problem similar to this not so long ago, starting to put the water in and stopping, turned out the waste pipe trap was blocked, gunge had built up because she uses so much powder! worth checking the belt as well, as someone already says often cheaper to get a new machine.
