Hello

Does any one have a Cat Flap in to a double glazed unit I need to find out which is best before I get new glass done.

Cheers

Get one with a round hole as they tend to charge more for squares cut into glass

Does your cat wear a collar Daz? If so, get one that has the collar tag so you don't get everyone else's cat coming in.

Is your door in two panels, one top and one bottom. If so you could buy a upvc panel for the bottom to fit the flap into. Only an idea if your not too bothered about having glass all the way down. Then you could save your glass should you ever want to put it back.

No they are French doors with full panes or will be when fitted :D

Cats will be going straight in to a cat run they are Maine Coons and to stupid to go hunting they run from spiders!! There will be no way of other cats getting in.

have found (Staywell) Big Cat Door White (280EFS): Amazon.co.uk: Garden & Outdoors gets mixed reviews but seems to be the right size for my moggies.

That link for a D/G/U though ?

It does say
It is not possible to cut holes in toughened glass of double glazed units except at the time of manufacture. Please contact a reputable glazier.

But if you get in advance they might be able to fit it for you.

The doors I have managed to get are unglazed but won't cost me to much to get the glass ;) so works out perfect for the glass cutters to sort.

Will you not need a barn door to let them in and out!!

They are big animals well 2 of them are one seems to be a dwarf lol she didm't grow much but she feckin stinks when she goes for a crap..

You will have to have toughend glass for full length french doors, double glazed with hole You will pay a few quid zad

Out and about, On the phone

for a hole to be in toughened glass, the hole has to be cut BEFORE the glass goes through the toughening process. If youve bought unglazed doors, and are hoping to get glass units and simply have a hole cut in it, youre going to be let down m8.

the best way would be to have a transom put in one of the doors, and as suggested have a small plastic panel, slightly bigger then the flap in the bottom of one door, then glaze as normal

If your cat is chipped this is a good flap to use, although you can also use it with a tag on the collar. I have it not in glass but in the plywood panel of the door and it works perfect. They vary in price by about £20 so look about if you decide to buy one. I know its expensive but it does stop any other cats coming into your house a problem i had. Bummer! ANOTHER idea I had years ago & someone else thought of it & cashed in. I have a magnet-operated flap, and one adventurous cat was forever coming home with metal things stuck to his collar. I got a really nice file off him once- still don't know whose it was LOL! I should have called him Magpie!

Ok so I have decided on CatMate Elite 307 - 4 Way Locking Cat Flap White: Amazon.co.uk: Pet Supplies after borrowing one from Pets at Home (electronic one- don't like them) to make sure my lumps of cats would go through it..

The window fitter says it shouldn't cost to much more to have the hole cut in the glass as he has to order it any way, the doors and frame were an over on an order so got them for £300 (not the rubbish you would get at b&q) oh and yes the glass will be toughened :D

Might just ask him to see if he can get a transom added to the doors but unsure if you can do that to pre made door?

No other cat will get in, if they do that means my cats have gotten out of the cat run!! lol
