Contemplating changing my shaving (face ) routine & been reading up about Double Edge Shaving, thinking of giving it a try. Got to shave for work so at least 5 days a week for me.
Anybody recommend/veto DE shaving? Any advice appreciated.
HH.

I did contemplate it but them Gillette mach 3 blades are so good I've never had to try.
Now I just keep a stubble lol

Think it's more a lifestyle choice than an economic one. Been interested in this a while but if you go the de route you get recommended dozens of must have creams & other products that are ,a must have if de shaving. If it was just a case of changing the razor I would of tried ages ago but having to get all the other stuff put me off. There's alot of info on hotukdeals site about this subject with links to all the recommended products.

Used to do this years ago H. Don't know if I could be bothered with a DE razor anymore, but there's no doubt that a badger brush and quality shaving soap in a bowl give you a much better shave than foams or gels.

On the site I mentioned above they have a full starter kit for just under £20. Seems a cheap way to try de shaving to see if you get on with it. Also gives you an idea of what you would need.

I have moved from Gillette to Aldi's own shaving system blades, and I am finding them extremely comfortable and a much closer shave than the Gillette razors.

I tried straight razor with blade rather than strop a few years back..... few nicks in first week but nothing to grumble about but then, and still don't know how, really fookin nasty cut on lip and got a wicked scar now - straight back to shelling out for Gillette Fusions. Hell of a lot of money but doubt I'll ever got back to anything else.

I've gone the other way and decided to grow a beard - 3 or 4 months now.

Good job I opened this, was thinking I might have to move it to the adult room.....

Usually use Gillette Fusion, but I find that I'm going through blades really easily, infact far to easily compared to when I was using other Gillette blades (i shave every day) and @ £30 for a pack it's a little bit stupid. Can't use Wilkinson Sword, just don't find their shave close enough and that stupid metal guard does my head in.

Been a while since I shaved it all off, but would get a smooth, lasting shave with G F Trumper's shaving cream - even when using a Wilkinson Sword Hydro 5 and synthetic brush.

£8 sample pack for those interested:

I've done the same, hamba. Though I do trim it weekly with a beard clipper and #2 comb, and use the WS Hydro 5 to tidy the neck line.

At the expense of sounding like a hipster, because of dry skin, I've started using a beard oil a couple of times a week.

I haven't got much hair so it's nice having something to comb. :)

My wife bought me a Philips beard trimmer for my birthday and it also has a regular shaver at one end so I use that for my neck.

lol I didn't pay quite that much @Rat I got mine from shavers uk for £180 > still expensive I know but the mac 3 blades went up to around £20 a pack so if you work that out over a year .......... the Panasonic is still expensive pmsl .. it was a Christmas pressie from her indoors ;)

Me too mate, hair loss was the one positive thing when I was having chemo, didn't need to shave for months lol

upto about 2 years ago,i used a cut throat razor since i was 17 or 18
me grandfather taught me on how to use one,at first i did end up with a
few nics here and there, also a bit dodgy if you been out the night before
the best shave ever, smooth as a babys bum, then me missis got me a
wilkinson sword quatro 4 blades and a shaver at other end, upto about
£10 for a pack of blades, and the shave is not a patch on when you use
cut throat

Totally and utterly agree. Only viable way is laser surgery.
