Fileserve are apparently deleting files left, right and centre!!

Just a state of panic, and pretty much playing into the hands of those wanting to stir it up

God knows why you people use HTTP file sharing anyway.

Complete shit designed for women and children IMO.;)

Plus you are leaving yourself wide open for prosecution.

IMO, NNTP+SSL = FTW LOL

Difference of opinion i think and preference depending on how long you've stuck to the old ways.

NNTP will and always has been a far superior method.

- It can be scheduled when needed
- Clients automatically fix downloads via pars and isn't browser based
- Can be throttled
- Don't have all that "free service" crap and having to enter Captcha after Captcha or wait 10, 15, 900 minutes until you can download the next file.
- £7 a month is great value considering it against paid sharing sites
- retention is significantly longer (1500 Days) and no constant broken links
- you can browse for what you need rather than wait to have someone hand it to you on the off chance or go searching for spurious links
- Increased security

ive used RS for years too with either their file manager or idm and its easy to use am a member of couple of forums with links to downloads got a shared account so works out at £2.50 a month and when i download its full band width.

One of the forums is a music forum with limited number of members with registration or invites open for short periods and new members severely restricted until staff recon they are kosher.

i tried newsgroups admittedly only the freebies servers but i found it a right phaff to reconstruct the files, par and par2 files and then something you wanted only half the files there or fake files too so you download a files to find its something else totally.

i suppose its what ever you got shown or worked out for yourself.

i think there will be a bit of a shake up in the filehosting sites hopefully as RS have been to court and won they will be left alone for a while with easier pickungs with the newer hosts. most links on RS are https.

newsgroups clients like sabnzbd and newsleacher are pretty much automated for PAR and RAR. You can also get add-ons for example to set up watch lists to automatically download stuff (e.g. specific TV shows).

Indexing sites like nzbmatrix and newzbin both allow comments so its not often you get fake files though viruses are still a big issue with apps.

@oneman looks like its changed a bit then :) i think the client i used was newsleacher

sorry to OP gone a bit off topic

i have read on anther site that wupload has stopped downloads but is still accepting payment for premium membership (not checked my self)

speed wise using rapidshare and newz groups for me were about the same speed , unless things have greatly improved i dont think ill be using NG`s , anything i ever want or needed for somebody always get, this is comming from a person who used to moan about rapidshare, when i was using the NG`s , but love em now.
its all down to personal choice lads at the end of the day, what mattersis u download what u want.

I use http:// servers (via jdownloader) and newsgroups via nzbmatrix and using unzbin.
I see the merits in both and wouldn't be blinkered enough to drop 1 for the other.

Fileserve are apparently deleting files left, right and centre!!

They are also disabling accounts, mines been disabled since a few days ago without any warning or notice, didn't have much uploaded except some Dreambox software, backup of the OS of my NAS and backups of various bits of iPods and iPhones.

Have sent them an email asking why they've disabled my account but they've not replied and from what I've read on other sites won't reply either but I intend to send and email to them every 5 days, hopefully they'll eventually respond.
