    Letter from DCA...

About 9 months ago I bought a stereo from china which got delivered to my house by dhl thought great and didn't think anything about it. A few days ago I got a letter from a company called 'control account plc', who say they are chasing a debt on behalf of DHL who paid the customs duty on my behalf. The thing is I didn't receive one invoice from DHL. I am sure they usually ask for payment before delivering the goods. What shall i do ignore it or send them a letter saying that i don't recall this debt and they need to prove that I owe DHL money. They have given me 7 days to pay 72.00 which includes 12.00 admin charge (I have a right mind of sending them a letter with admin charge myself) shall i pay it or ignore it?

just write to the company - dont phone stating you have know knowledge of this dept, and request all information regarding this dept to be sent to you. If you made no written agreement with them - then they are up the creek

I receive parcels from china which get delivered by DHL and always they make sure I pay any vat/duty before they hand me the shipment.

This company has popped up from nowhere. You need to get in touch with DHL and demand an explanation.
Or, this is a fake company which are trying to pull a fast one.

I had a friend who was sent a mobile bill from a company which said he used their service, this was 3 years ago and the number in question was a payg sim. If you can see the similarities I'm sure you can work it out.
Please add to my rep if I've helped you. Thank's

    Re: Letter from DCA...

Never ring, always write a letter, date it and photocopy it for your records.
I had an issue with a DCA stating I owed NTL 70odd quid.

Pen a letter asking for all the transaction receipts etc etc, make them do some work. You will prob find once the DCA know they it aint worth it the letters stop.
