want to buy a cordless drill with lithium battery, which one should i go for?

I always bought makita for some reason just peoples reviews.

But recently the new tools Ive picked up have been ryobi just for the value, and the fact Ive been a bit short on money.

makita all the way fella no contest

lightweight powerful and last forever

makita everyday of the week out of those 3 mate

depends really how much youll use it to justify the cost

but out of those 3 makita is the best choice for quality for your money mate

Cheers

wanting to buy from my local b&q a hitachi lithium with 2 batteries 18v for £99.98 .. i think that is a very good price...but not sure about the make.

I cant amagine hitachi making poor tools m8 and it is a good price but Ive never used one.

Makita for control and durability although the Hitachi's are not far behind.

Buy a decent cordless and buy yourself a £19.99 corded drill from B&Q with the 2 year warranty for a decent combo.

is for my dad...he will use it on everyday repairs around of the house..not for a professional heavy every day use. I think i will go for the hitachi...

I got the Makita last year from B&Q for £99, I was unsure which to buy but there was a similar thread to this and I took the advice given by the majority of the members who posted and that was buy the makita.

It is a great cordless drill.

Makita too.

Got a cordless one with three batteries, and its done me proud.

For dense brick you still need an sds drill though.

got the chance of a hilti 36v ex-hire drill with no chuck but 1 battery for £80 think i should go fir it? also maybe able to get the belt/pouch combo that you put the battery in and just connect a cable from it to the drill, cause the battery is the heaviest part

my mates had one off this guy and they are in superb nick for an ex-hire jobby!

sorry for hijacking the thread

i see B&Q had a sale on power tools is it still going?

Cheers

have used hilti many times in work and always been great but expensive so for my own personal gear i usually go with makita

I'd pass. Stick with a decent cordless for the majority of tasks and buy yourself any hefty cheapo corded drill for tougher jobs.

In vest in other items such as a circular or bench saw for easy woodworking with the money saved.

I got a cheap big heavy rotary hammer/chisel drill for £30 it makes solid concrete walls feel like cheese ? its the best thing Ive ever bought the odd clean and a bit crease is all it,s ever needed.

good advice there munkey magic :proud:

makita assuming the bosch is green not blue. personally i use a makita for most jobs and bosch blue (professional range) for heavy drilling. mind you its a £99 drill and a circa £450 drill so there very different tools. i always recommend the makita to anyone that will listen.

gav, dont you dare turn down a hilti for that money, you could run it over with a steam roller and still sell the hilti pancake for more than you paid. miss out on that and i swear i'll zoom in on your avatar and piss all over my laptop screen

for the more demanding jobs Hilti are the dogs out of the 3 mikita all the way

only problem is. the hitachi was £80 last weekend, but its now £130.

if it was still £80 then u couldnt have bought better for the money

de-walt/elu are black & decker trade brands

and ALL cordless drill manufactures use the same motors made by the same company. its the gears that make the drill, some have nylon and some have metal - go with metal full durability both makita and bosch use both
de-walt/elu/black & decker and all other cheaper brands use nylon

also there is a HUGE difference between hammer action and percussion action on cordless drill so go for hammer action all the time

the battery's these days last a lot longer than they did but avoid the cheap brands coz they will be shit.

i would recommend Hitachi or mikata any day of the week if ya cant afford hilti
