New ntl software soon ?

Well, I received a package through the mail saying that ntl are going to update
their software soon - about bloody time that pukey purple screen is done away
with and perhaps we might even have decent interactive and TV guide. I am a bit
worried that they might follow $ky and put the infernal red button up.

Looks like they may have cocked up (surprise, surprise) as they have included a
leaflet suggesting that there will no longer be an RF output from the Pace box.

Ok for the tech-savvy types but I guess there are going to be a fair number of
people who will be completely flummoxed by this. I know from talking to people
that there is still a substantial portion of the population who have no idea
what a SCART connector is and still a fair number who have TVs without SCARTs.

When they wake up one morning in the next few weeks and find their cable TV has
been replaced by a blue screen or white noise they are not going to be too
chuffed.

Well done ntl !

Wow, don't worry if these sets are black and white they won't have the
colour problem.

The new one is crap and the box crashes more often if you press a wrong set
of keys

I agree completely, more picture freezes / artefacts than ever and the
changes to the guide are terrible. The guide still fails to update
consistently and very often shows nothing.

The new colours aren't that bad, but the access buttons have been changed,
browse now shows program info? and the mini-guide has no way to go straight
to the first channel and then browse up through your favourites.

In my experience it's a downgrade!
