Been to Rat's, have rash to prove it ;)
I'm on ripping apart a kitchen for someone, under the unit thats in the middle of the floor is the stop cock, the floor is a concrete one and the pipe to it under the floor is plastic.

Having never cut a main pipe like this before thought I would ask advice.

You see the stud wall is now pulled down and the units are going against an outside wall, this means the stop cock will be in the middle of the floor, I need to chase it back in the concrete and re attach it to the outside wall.

If I know the main supple off from the outside of the property what do I need to cut this and shorten it then reattach the stop cock ?

Do I just need a new olive a bit like speed fit ?

Ok presuming its a brass stopcock then once the water is off from outside just undo the nut from the stopcock and remove, then either cut it back with junior hacksaw and put new olive on and re compress or extend it with a straight coupler (310) and then reattach the stopcock.

Make sure you have a look at the pipe when you disconnect in case its only thin wall pipe in which case you will need an insert.

he just wanted an excuse to talk about cocks really lol

it all depends if its mains water it could be alkathene pipe in which case my dear dutcho you will need either a 20mm or 25mm olive and maybe a new insert to suit

if its the main pipe, turn it off at the toby in the street first. after that just treat it as a normal pipe. your local plumbing merchant will have all the bits you need. just dont go to b&q. the guys there are tossers and know feck all.
