Just don't buy her a wok!!

Sorry m8 could not help it.
Whats the occasion? that might help

What about a nice little Bonsai Tree down your local Garden Nursery,A living thing that requires a womens touch as well as being a memento from her roots.

a tea set? i would go to my local china town and ask what would be appropriate, nice people, but can be offended easily.

is bonsai not Japanese?

i think it be a little patrinising buying her something in a sense to her own culture, if your culture is different why not buy her something that is associated with being gratefull or thankfull if you have anything.

my m8 is married to chinese woman for many years and everytime o goto visit them in cyprus i always take and sounds stupid is the wee bio yoghurts or and nice brandy as she has a bottle tucked away for a wee nip every now n then.

But that different i know her and know what she would want.

The Chinese love jade (not Goody. No one likes her). Brings luck, etc..

The main thing though is the presentation. Most Asian countries consider the presentation more important than the gift itself.

For instance if you see the Chinese / Japanese have a cup of rosie, it takes a long time. It's not a case of throwing a bag in a mug and pouring in the water from a kettle.

ok thanks for that, some thing like this then?
