Mechanics--Renault Scenic--emissions check

hi
any mechanics? need advice

renault scenic -- "toxic fume filter system warning light" flashing
plus "check emissions" warning is alight

came on as car was parked with engine running
car drives ok but has lost some power, feels as if its ready to cut out when not moving but doesnt

bin checkin renault forums and i think it might be ignition coil problem

is this big/costly job?
can i drive car (work 2moro about 10 mile return journey) until i get to garage without doin further damage

it will be a coil m8 and there so easy to change its silly m8 . 10m socket and extension , they sell them at g.s.f , theres a cheapy and renault oe , the cheap one is about 20 quid and the oe one about 40 l think . just get one and change over one by one till u find the one thats u/s . third one down in the middle http://www.gsfcarparts.com/

As Smirnoff said...definitely a pencil coil.

I had one fitted last year, but it was under warranty, so cost me nothing.
It felt as if it was running on 3 cylinders.

You can drive it, but i would stick to small journeys only & only if necessary.

I usually just pull the block connectors off one at a time till i find the faulty one

l didnt what to make it to complicated for him m8 lol , even l cant find them that way all the time ..

when u have it running nice again dont think about the light on the dash it will go out after a mile and too

Your probably right .When i was an apprentice the mechanics used to lift the bonnet and say its misfiring I used to ask them how they new and they said you can hear it.I couldn't hear F*** all so i guess someone not to familiar with engine sounds might struggle to notice the difference

Drive the fooker then you know you have a cylinder off, lol
