As you may be aware, I've had a problem with my Focus using excessive amounts of engine oil, after trying loads of stuff I eventualy went to see a engine consultant.

He had me driving up and down very steep hills (thank god for the pennines) and he came to the conclusion my rings are gummed up to buggery. Smoke would pour out of the exhaust when going up a hill after 4,500RPM.....he then had me coming down the hill in 2nd gear using the engine compression and then blipping the throttle at the bottom of hill - no smoke, so not valves.

So, we checked both crank breather pipe and exhaust breather, both fine - no blockages.

Then took all 4 spark plugs out and dropped 200ml of Bradchem 320 (stuff that goes into engine flush) into each pot. Left it for 3 days to eat the shit of my rings.

Sucked most of the 320 out with a shringe/pipe, tunred over and SMOKKKKKKKKKKE - glad we did it at night, jeez i've never seen as much smoke ever!

Done a oil/filter change now, just gotta keep a eye on my oil levels.

But now I seem to have developed a new problem, everytime I open my bonet I see a 'spray' of antifreeze right above where the timing belt is. I take it my water pump is leaking now? and the timing belt is spraying it upwars onto my bonnet.

can anyone tell me how much a new one would cost to be fitted please? Would I need a new timing belt at the same time?

Sorry for long post, its Sunday and I have nowt else to do - sat ere waiting for Lewis to really piss Alonso/Ferrari off! :)

C'mon Lewis!

I wasn't going to get it checked by a dealer as I kinda work in the motor trade (but dont have any direct contacts) and I hear too many horry stories from dealers charging a fortune and cutting corners to get the most money out of people.

My car isnt under any kind of warranty anymore, and the only time I goto a dealer is when I want to protect my warranty.

All I can do is ring round garages and ask them for a quote, but I know some people on ere are mechanics so just wondered about a rough price for it fitting, and like I say would the belt need to be replaced at same time too?

Cheers m8.
