Remote not working

The remote for my pace DiTV 2000 has stopped working any ideas what this could be. Both of the LED`s can be seen to light up when a button on the remote control is pressed. but will have no effect on the actual box, hence I cannot change channels without getting up. I have tried new batteries on the remote but still it dont work. its the old type remote long thin one with illuminous OK button. Cheers.

normally caused by crystal failure on the 2000 box. check out this thread:

any idea where i can buy one of these xtals and do you know what frequency it runs at.

3.58 mhz m8, {it might be the crystal shorting out on its metal caseing }--remove the caseing see what you get

Is there any way I can check it without a scope? I have a multi meter any way I can test it with that? I get voltage on some of the pins but not sure if its oscillating.
