I connected my blackcat cable to the sb5100i i connected power when i go to flash tab to try detect chip it says no flash detected why is this??? im using the wanyib guide

Push the header right on.
have you got the blackcat plugged in the right way around?
Facing away from the tuner(silver thing with stickers on)
meaning the ribbon cable will be going away from the tuner

what does it say in the console? what build are you using?what kind of flash ic does your modem have?

yes the ribbon thin away from tuner like on demo video is there any particula way the solderless adaptor should connect like which way round does it go or doesnt it matter.. im using blackcat build 120 cd one from tcniso gave me..

the header doen't matter which way it goes around.
You might need to solder a header in?
Does it look like this when you start the blackcat up with it all connected.

You might need to se this in bios
Make sure your parallel port is set to ECP 0x378 in the BIOS.
I never done it but i heared it said?

ahha might looks liek it has error on cable.. which option on bios is parralel port located.. also the cable i also got from tcniso so its most likely correct :p..

EDIT>>> I checked bios i went to para port part it was set to ECP then thats all thats available but the one above is also paraport and its set to auto when i select that i had option to make it 378 so if i do it as 378 it would be ECP378 but where is the 0X :(

don't use the solderless header pins..it is very common problem with those solderless crap..just solder them in there real good and make sure you plug the cable in correctly(flip it around if your not sure)..

damn i ant good at soldering i cant even solder jtag on to sammys man solderless is the only option i have also the power cable which is in correct cuz the light flashes when u plug it into modem and the serial cable is in correclty cuz of the 25 pins heheh fits correctly.. u think i should give a shot with 378 thing and leave the ox cuz that shit not on bois lol

I have never used anything solderless since my XBOX adventures, I got nothing but problems from Non-Solder chips.

All I can suggest with the Non-Solder adapter is give it a good push and wriggle it around a bit to see if you can get anything out of it from the Blackcat software. Failing that see if anyone on here lives close and would be willing to solder in your 10pin header. And if still no luck try a local TV repair shop or similar, tell them you ordered a kit to repair your modems faulty firmware but can't solder the 10pin header in to attach the cable to. If you tell them that it is for illegal purposes 99% of shops won't touch it.

Good luck!

this is dumb i emailed tcn about the solderless adaptor they told me that everyone getting this problem with them u might as well use the soldering one what fuckers man.. gay solderless shitz they should just release new blackcat cable with the 10 pin head already on hehe..anywayz im looking at the demo on soldering 10pin head but on the the guide u dont see the pins from the other side on the sb board and when i put mines in u do how would i solder this :( no clue lol..

Sounds about right for TCNISO but hey don't knock it as you got a reply pretty quick reply from what I can see there!

The way I usually do them is to pop your 10pin header in then secure it in place so it don't move, I find Blu-Tak works wonders for this.

Then all you do is touch your soldering iron on the pin to heat it up and touch the pin with the solder and it will flow down the pn and seal the joint.

Simple as that mate! if your not good at soldering take yout time and don't worry as it is easy.

ohh nice pic there :p looks like mine but unsoldered hehe ok now i think i understand this.. u sayding get solder pro and touch the ending off the pin then it should join lol hmm maybe like 2 secs after u heated up solderpro right.. or ru saying get lead free silver solder touch solderpro with that then using lead free touch the pins to join sorry im always confusing my self..btw im a pure solder nooob i cant even jtag it dont stick on haha it comes off.. anywayz i tried solderless thing for some reason when held it in tight it actually recognised it im gonna try it again to see if it works before i solder..

BTW thanks for the cool idea u gave me of soldering much easier then soldering around pins and one more i touch the pins again to unsolder right :p..

Edit.. one more thing the blue tack did u like stick that on the 10 pins on the front then solder from back right

The Blu-Tak goes on the front and you solder the back. If you're having trouble jtag'in etc then use a bit of flux, it helps fuse things together properly.

As for desoldering, why would you want to take the 10pin header off once it's on? But if that's what your going to do then your going to either need a solder sucker or some solder mop to remove the solder then you can take the header off again.

I really don't see the point in this though, just leave it on.....

i need to desolder cuz i got 2 sb 5100 if i leave the 10 pin one i wont be able to clone the other one :( lol..

You gotta be kidding right? Another 10pin header will cost you less than 50p at Maplins or Modern Radio etc.

OH lol haha never knw u can buy 10 pin heads from maps thats cool i shall i order my self another one still ant had time yet with cloning hopefully i get time tommorow :p..

lol...

Either of these will do, just cut them to whatever size you need:

Pin Strip 1x36 JW59P £0.52

Pin Strip 2x36 JW62S £0.85

:proud:

haha can u believe only now i got the time to clone the sb5100 i just read again the blue tack now would i still be holding the blue tack on the pins whilst soldering????.. if not where would i stick the blue tack on to like there nothing there that can hold it in place without support lol..

Just push it right up over the pins and to the board. It will hold it.

Some peeps use electric tape but I find that the pins can melt through the tape and come loose.

Just find something that works for you mate. Blu-Tak should do the job though as that's what I always use. Even for the XBOX's (No not 360's, YET, so don't bombard me with mails askng...lol)
