Hi there not been on here for a long time looking for info on any latest boxes out there best one to buy thanks guys

cheapest
Q5 DVB HD
Amiko T2/C

or dearer ones

Opticum AX-ODiN DVBC-1 Enigma 2 Linux HD Digital Cable Receiver
or
Miracleboxes

try the world of sat store online

or try a sat box that can also take a cable tuner ,get the best of both worlds

I've had a few of the recent one's out there and now I own the Miraclebox Min twin HD ( cable & sat in one) . It runs Enigma 2 and VIX auto bouquets and is about the best of the bunch at a decent price £145. I have a 64gb stick in it to record to which is enough for me but it can't take a HD , it's bigger bro can but abit more pricier.
The Q5 is the simplest of the lower priced boxes and very easy to set up and make bouquets ain't that hard. The Amiko T2/C is easy to flash but the bouquets is a pain to sort but once done ( couple of hrs) it works fine.

It's down to your coin m8 , what you have to spend and how many bells and whistles you wan't , if you wan't a cheap "I just watch TV thats it" box then Q5 for sure.
If you want the to watch both sat and cable in one box and hassle free try the Miraclebox combo.
good luck

To add to the list....

Amiko Mini HD Combo approx. £69 - Around £20 more than the T2/C version but comes with DVB-S/S2 + DVB-C/T/T2 tuners, online satellite channel list updates (and cable if you know where to look) - 2 year hardware guarantee.

Amiko 8260+ approx. £79 - Around £10 more than the Combo and also comes with DVB-S/S2 + DVB-C/T/T2 tuners, online satellite channel list updates (and cable if you know where to look), slightly larger receiver with built in power supply and uprated chipset meaning nicer looking menu but more importantly even better support for extras such as IPTV, Android streaming app for browsing, changing channel and streaming channel to your Android device- 2 year hardware guarantee.

Amiko Alien 2+ approx. £159 - Dual boot Spark and Enigma2 and comes with triple tuners which are 2 x DVB-S/S2 + 1 x DVB-T/T2/C. Full Enigma2 support now from OpenATV and more groups besides, fully supports the usual popular E2 plugins which means the likes of AutoBouquetMaker and AutoBouquets so you can have full a full channel list for your area on cable (or satellite) in a matter of seconds, VM EPG support meaning full 7 day EPG (same on 28.2E satellite as well), masses of other addons and plugins, OnDemand, TSMedia etc. - by far the most comprehensive of all those mentioned here so far and still with the 2 year hardware guarantee.

Medi@link Black Panther 1 card + CI Plus Combo approx. £139 - Another closed source one that is a combo receiver with 1 x DVB-S/S2 + 1 x DVB-T/T2/C/C2 (yes C2 - not important right now but perhaps in the future?). online satellite channel list updates, very nice menus and apps. with 200+ retro games, great networking and sharing possibilities (as much as you can expect from closed source in any case) but what really adds the extra to consider these over others is the fantastic IPTV support for the likes of METV, ANY TV, NASH TV and lots more free options plus the free adult apps. - This ones much more than just a satellite/cable receiver!

As mentioned above though which is exactly right, it all comes down to the features you want/need against the price you can afford. Just remember though whatever you choose price is only one thing, extras like combo tuners, triple tuners, C2 tuners, E2 support, IPTV service options etc. are all extras but all things that very much need to be taken into account as well, hard for me to see beyond the Amiko Alien 2+ all added up or perhaps the Medi@link CI Plus Combo IF I were thinking of some IPTV services on the side, but your own choice may vary, just remember on the Q5 they are Chinese imports which means zero hardware guarantee and generally no or little future support, that may or may not make the least bit of difference to you but it has to be factored in when making your choice.

I have the amiko t2
and Opticum AX-ODiN DVBC-1 Enigma 2 Linux HD Digital Cable Receiver

Find the opticum best , you can do a lot with it .. epg ect..

the amiko is best suited .. to people who want it basic .. just change channels .. but need some one tecky to set up .. i like the size of this box and build quailty

For the purpose of what?
If you havn't been on here for the past year or so search this forum first for: sky-hd-channels-gone (I mention this just in case you're not aware)

Why spend big when the demographics are changing and it could mean new technologies having to be applied to reset this imbalance, if it can ever be!

be aware of the Amiko T2/C , is doesn't pick up lower freqs like 107.000 which has a certain sports channel namely 2 and a few others on it. This is down the the quality of the tuner.

I had one of those and I was able to watch that channel but had problems picking up bbc hd and itv hd but cured it by scanning a close by town the amiko box can scan any frequency by point 01 increments

Do you mean dropping the NETID by 1 say ;- 40877 to 40876 or the Freq ? again 107.000 to 106.950 ?

This is an old thread so let's bring it back to life..I'm always on the look out for new boxes and new technology..
I'm a big VU+ fan so I will be getting the new vu solo zero at around £100 ..I don't need it but just have to try it...
I am using vu solo SE at present plus I have a host of other boxes..
Solose is lightly bigger than the zero but way faster with a 1300mhz dual core processor compared to a 750 on the zero.both are single tuner.

I'm on the hunt for 2 boxes, I can't use the Q5 as its non compat with panasonic, the Amiko wont pick up about 8 channels which are under 107.000freq but I want both to be HD.
I've about £110 to spend on each , which and were would you suggest ? I looked at the dm800se but I wasn't sure which to buy as there's that many different versions with different sims

Also, the Zgemma Star H1 twin s/c ? this has a 750 MHz processor and a samsung tuner , what's your thoughts ?
