Hi all

Just thinking out loud - A few years ago when the pin protection was added to the movie channels we were dumping the nvram from Pace 4010's and Samsung 2100's and putting back amended dumps if I remember correctly. If we did this again and compared a few from the same model box would we be able to narrow down where the info we need is? And is this something that existed on the older firmwares or is it newly implemented on 3.7 ready for N3 cards? I presume the RSA key is individual for each box in the same way as a boxkey so even if this is possible this would only be functional for those with an N3 card in an older box.

Im guessing it will be pretty much impossible on any of the newer boxes to get the RSA key even by chip removal ? Even though there were some false dawns no-one ever managed to get a bk from a Samsung 2110 so I cant think it will give up anything else.

Go ahead and try it :)

Thats the only way people will find out.

There too busy waiting to get spoonfed.

I just shake the box vigorously until all of the RSA keys fall out.

Sorry, it turns out they weren't RSA keys at all, they were cornflakes.

I should've gone to specsavers.

You need some brain food (ie fish)

Got myself some new piranah fish.

I wonder if vm keep a database of the RSA keys. May be a disgruntled ex-employee may leak it on the net lol.

I dont have a problem trying it - just wanted to make sure the info will be contained in the dump if possible before I borrow a 4010. I wouldnt bank on that particular database existing anywhere that a regular employee, disgruntled or not, would have access to it!!

Ithink u will find that the BK can be found in the 2110 & SA8300 , but only by a few peolpe ! & quite alot of exp kit ! as i understand the RSA can be got with the correct details,!!! from both the N1 & N3 card from the same box, (but only a on few models)

I have no reason to doubt you but considering the amount of 2110's and sa8300 about without paired cards if it was possible im sure even if the method wasnt made public someone would have been offering a pay service retrieving BK's from them??

So from what you are saying the RSA can be got from just the card?

Yes there are 2 guys offering this commercially, both are in Poland.

1 of them will tell you that it's pointless as no one has manged to get a softcam to read a virgin n3 card so the rsa is pretty useless.

how do you think cs works with N3?

Ther are receivers on the market that use cs to clear channels on virmin ie starview 6 and the kryptview A780. For these to work it must be possible for a server to read the card

Yeah Im pretty sure the Spanish D+ Rom180 is similar to the rev VM are using and that is being shared on sat?? I have been having a look and it seems most abroad got the info from n2 cards which we never saw here!!

so it's all sorted then :)

except it isn't :(

I never said anything was sorted - Infact I was exploring the possibility of getting the required info from one of the older boxes to see if its possible - my area hasnt even got new cards yet although we have gone to 3.7 so I am expecting them sometime soon!!

I was referring to the part about the VM rom being different and saying that I was under the impression it was similar to the spanish rom180? I realise that nothing is sorted for VM - I have not even seen a commercial server available!!

My question was to some of the more knowing members here -Am I likely to be able to get the required info by dumping a pace 4010 nvram? or am I just going to be wasting my time? I dont mind trying either way but I would rather not if someone can definitively tell me its a bad idea!!

i think you just answered your own question.

Might as well ask this here, rather than open a new thread.

Do I still need the RSA to do a local, in house share? (I was under impression it is a yes, but been told I might be wrong?)

i think you just answered your own question.

which question did i answer for myself?

Im sure this is why people dont bother anymore - its like a bitchfest !!

But just for clarity:

1. I am pretty sure that although some box makers are claiming to be setup for N3 c/s, they merely mean they have access to the net and cccam in anticipation of a server becoming available.

2. I am only interested in finding out if the required info for sharing an N3 VM card could be got from an older pace 4010 or samsung 2100 box that is jtag'able.

3. I only brought this up as some people here will have experience of dumping the nvram on these boxes as it was a method we used previously when pin protection was introduced on the movie channels to allow us to get a pin entry screen at the time!!

4. I know nothing about Polish people offering to extract the keys from 2100's or 8300's as im not convinced that is even possible - some clever people have looked previously at getting bk's from these and failed - I was led to believe that even if you could dump them the info is all encrypted?

5. I am quite happy c/s on satellite - I get everything I could possibly want and more - I just thought it would be nice to try something different and see what can be achieved !!
