Hey, my modem restarted (iffy cable)

and now its coming back with randomate (dynamic i think or md5 encypted) configs.

Ive bypassed it by using the the preset config istead of force changing it. This is the Knowsley are of VM ive found and was wondering if anyone knows anything about bypassing it. Or am i needing macs for 20mb only now?

What was the config name you are being allocated?

If it's what I think they might be doing it don't matter ... they change rename them to random names daily.

cant see the
point of
em doing that
as we could just scan and use a mac with a 20meg
configure
and not
force
it.

seems every little helps though doesnt it :) will stop us using dtv macs and forcing a nice 20mbit config onto it

this is a list of scans I did...

Its really annoying as my modem nearly froze witht he amount it got.

Ok after this i check the logs to see what was hapening.

I found this

071031083751 7-Information I500.0 Registration Completed
071031083751 7-Information I0.0 REG-RSP Registration Response
071031083751 7-Information I0.0 REG-REQ Registration Request

I had to change the Mac and also use its default config inorder to get into the registration.

At the moment I dont think they have introduced BPI as they have in america. Its an easy fix apparently and there more info on the TCN iSO website

Hihi

Hmm, curious how all those seem to be coming from the same IP, testing perhaps?

It also looks like it might be picking strings out of a set large key, perhaps based on time, notice:

168 ;kfoA,.iyewr 172.18.25.6
169 A,.iyewrkldJ 172.18.25.6
170 .iyewrkldJKD 172.18.25.6

at end and..

96 foA,.iyewrkldJ 172.18.25.6
97 iyewrkldJKDHSU 172.18.25.6

earlier on, they're clearly not entirely random although how they're generated is anyones guess

(Funny how Coretech never saw this one coming)

Some of the same patterns occur in the other example of this posted yesterday too... I suspect this will be nothing more than a minor inconvenience

Its not an IP address, its the TFTP Server.

So yeah my modem wouldnt boot.

I changed Mac and it wouldnt recive the config from the tftp (62.30.0.122) so I changed it after seeing my config scan (runs constantly). I removed it and set it to the default one by removing everything and for the config to use aswell.

So everything is fine, its looking at the server im on the internet.

But then I went to use UseNet and my download speed was 50kbps...... even though the download speed of the default config was 20mb......

A few people are talking about the ambit problem with cloned macs and how VM are bricking them (this is on TCNiSO). So I dont know whats happening at the moment in my area.

Because so few people will have 20mb mac addresses (during test scans I did I've never seen one)

It means people will settle for lower speeds freeing up bandwidth.

cant see the
point of
em doing that
as we could just scan and use a mac with a 20meg
configure
and not
force
it.

TBH, I'd be fine with that, I don't download much, it does look like the pattern is predictable, though perhaps when we have more data...
