just for arguments sake, would there be a way to hack bt for broadband??

or is that just a pipe dream?

I don't believe its possible.

We've got it good, so to speak :)

well got tv and broadband just trying to see if there was a way round telephones

Well I dont actually have a telephone line at home, I just use a VOIP phone, gives me a local number, so people phone me, and I just top it up from time to time if I want to make outgoing calls.

But as for hacking ADSL, I very much doubt its possible, the speed is set by the exchange, not on the modem as such. and the way it connects to the other end is totally different too. Just think, they'd be a section on here if it was possible :)

Just outta curoisty what Voip Service do you use..

im using sipgate.. so far no problems.. want to get a unit i can plug into me modem.. would be brill with built in router.. so can have the lappy off..

most likely voipbuster, voipcheap or skype i use voipbuster which also acts like a phone card u can dial a access number from ur mobile to call parts of europe,us ,canada. australia and many more for free and i think ther sipp compatible

I also use sipgate, just with a cheap budgetone bt-102.

You can get the ATA units that are pretty cheap now, they allow you to use your standard phones as VOIP phones.

Not sure on built in VOIP routers thou, i know they exist, and some are listed on sipgates website

I've also got a UTStarcom F1000 wifi phone on vonage but thats going back because its unreliable with them as a provider.

Going to invest in a siemens C460IP cordless sip phone instead :)
