Water, The Future?

Another example of giving aid all over the place. It seems a humane idea, but the money often never gets to the target.

I don't think it's ever seriously intended to, it's more a loosely monitored fund to grease commercial and political favours.

I agree with the ban on ecigs, they should be treated like a normal cigarette. I don't allow any one to smoke normal or ecigs in my house due to the fact ecigs have not been tested fully, you only have to go back to the 20's and 30's cigarettes were all the rage and I am sure back then they did not imagine the harm they would cause.

Presumably you ban alcohol too?

I got hammered in a comment section somewhere else when I questioned the safety of ecig vapour, hopefully I'm less at the mercy of moderators here :).

A lot of it is produced in China so unless you've got access to a gas chromatograph and mass spectrometer you've got no idea what you are breathing. However you convince yourself that it is alright you don't most likely don't have a real way of knowing what is in the liquid or whether the element is emitting something that you are breathing.

I don't care is people want to vape at home but I've been on public transport when people are using these and I can smell something in that carrier liquid. next time someone does it I'll go over and spray some mystery liquid in their face and see how they like it.

Also, I don't want to breathe in unabsorbed nicotine.

Fair dinkum as they say! I'm not over-keen on e-cigs but just pointing out that alcohol has been extensively tested, is known to be harmful but we enjoy it anyway ;)

Lots of it contains higher alcohols and methanol :). My home-fermented wines from juices were something else... Especially when using yeast that can tolerate 21% ethanol.

I got the sensation and smell of a dance floor fog machine when I smelled one of these ecigs on a train.

I agree and don't agree with what you are saying i don't wanna fall out with anyone over this subject i do not vape in public i only use my ecig indoors.I don't agree with people using it on public transport.

But can you just sit back just for a min how many times have you been clubbing/live gigs and been in contact with a smoke machine?I don't know if you have been lol im just trying to make a point but its basically the same as that its the same stuff used more or less.

The smell you smell is prob from the flavorings but i don't buy juice i make it myself and it comprises of 4 compounds

All electronic cigarettes, whether using pre-filled cartomizers or a fluid tank system, require e-liquid to produce the inhaled vapour. The e-liquid is a simple solution that contains the following three components:

Nicotine: The stimulant in cigarettes and the substance that is addictive in cigarettes is the nicotine. In our ‘mix your own’ range we offer nicotine in strengths of 54mg/ml and 72mg/ml, in our Platinum and Titanium Ice fluids. These are available in either a propylene glycol or vegetable glycerine base and in volumes of 50ml and 100ml.
Flavouring: Nicotine has no discernible taste. Therefore to produce the taste in your e-liquid a flavour needs to be added. There are an infinite number of flavours that can be used. We believe we stock not only some of the finest tasting and highest quality e-liquid flavourings, but also one of the widest and most exciting ranges available. We currently offer flavours within 2 ranges: the Original concentrate range, which includes separate Tobacco and Flavour concentrate ranges and our new Gold Standard Range which will eventually include over 80 flavours. The Gold Standard is a range that has been developed and made by Totally Wicked in our own facility. It uses only the finest quality UK sourced flavours and is a range we are particularly proud of.
Diluents: The third ingredient of e-liquid is a diluent. The diluent essentially performs two functions. Firstly it is added to dilute the mixture of nicotine and flavours to the correct strength. Secondly it adds the part of the solution that produces the vapour that is inhaled and ‘transports’ both the flavour and nicotine from the electronic cigarette to the user. The common diluents used in our products are:
Propylene Glycol (PG): Our Propylene Glycol is high quality pharmaceutical grade. Propylene Glycol helps to produce what we refer to as ‘throat hit’ in combination with nicotine and flavours. As a guide, our pre-mixed e-liquids contain a mixture of 80% Propylene Glycol and 20% Glycerine.
Vegetable Glycerine (VG): Glycerine helps to produce greater vapour and adds a little sweetness. As a guide, our premixed e-liquids contain a mixture of 80% Propylene Glycol and 20% Glycerine.
Aqueous Glycerine (AG): Aqueous Glycerine is high quality pharmaceutical grade, and is diluted with de-ionised water.

This i pulled form an ecig site just to give you a little more background. As i said i dont wanna fall out with anyone if anything i just wanna try and educate people yeah we dont know what damage this is doing but as far as i know ive never felt better.Sorry if i have offended anyone as its truly not my intentions too.

Lol, you guys crack me up! Cars chuck out seriously dodgy stuff from the exhaust, shoving your head in a bucket of water for 10 minutes is a really bad idea... etc...
@roachieuk - no offence here M8. I keep my spliffs for the garden ;)

I'm not trying to fall out with anyone either but I like to discuss things :).

They are from a country with a rather bad history of using toxic chemicals to produce everything from jewelry, children's face paint and baby food. You would also have to know if anything from the ecig itself was getting into the vapour. Is the plasticiser leaching out of something? Is the metal safe to have in my mouth? It is a device intended to produce a vapour to be inhaled, perfect for delivering toxins to very susceptible organs.

There is questionable control over the production and materials so you have no way of knowing.

Not that QC issues are of Far Eastern concern usually.

Cars aren't designed as a drug delivery system and I can chose to be away from them. That's a bit like saying " It's alright, pollution is all around us, a bit more unknown stuff is OK!".

You can? Choose to be away from them that is? Now, how believable:

BBC News - Traffic pollution kills 5,000 a year in UK, says study

that is I don't know but...

My point was it's difficult to ascertain the effects of pretty much anything but polite to avoid giving concern by doing something in public that's not tested. Erm, I'll stay in tomorrow?

And me, we don't have a local fart testing station either.:Biggrin2:

I completely agree. I do feel uncomfortable in the close presence of a 'vaper', just as I do near a conventional smoker. Maybe it is completely or relatively 'safe' (whatever that is) but while there is a doubt, don't inflict it on others.

Re. the Biassed Broadcasting Corporation's report on pollution, scary reading though it is, these statistics are so easily manipulated (and impossible to prove or disprove) I would take that report with a handful of salt.

And if you think water needs banning, have a look at this!! Facts About Dihydrogen Monoxide

Consider how the media was pre-occupied with a bit of Saharan dust not long ago, for perspective.
It's really just a pre Pissedofferus filler, or a diversion. Sports trivia, film and book plugs, and 10 min weather forecasts
apparently aren't enough. It's such a stable world these days, real news must be in such short supply!

How come we are the longest lived generation so far? Thinking back, buggered if I know!
Perhaps by not obsessing about everything?:Biggrin2:
