UKTV has announced that lifestyle channel Really is to become the broadcaster's third free-to-air network when it launches on Freeview this summer.

On August 2, Really will replace the Dave Ja Vu timeshift channel at position 20 on the Freeview electronic programme guide, broadcasting from 8am to 2am. Really will join factual channel Yesterday and entertainment network Dave, which are already available on digital terrestrial television.

Launched in 2009 as part of UKTV's channel revamp, Really broadcasts programming aimed predominantly at young women, including Tool Academy, Baby Beauty Queens and Snog, Marry, Avoid.

"UKTV has an ambitious growth strategy for 2011 and beyond and investment in our Lifestyle channels is integral to our success," said UKTV chief executive Darren Childs.

"We've already got the two leading channels in the genre - Home and Good Food. By securing a free-to-air slot for Really and investing considerably in its content, we are confident UKTV will continue to dominate the genre."

Clare Laycock, UKTV's interim director of lifestyle and channel head of Really and Home, added: "We've secured a highly visible EPG position right next to Dave and that, together with Really's compelling visual identity and schedule packed full of guilty TV pleasures will ensure it stands out from the crowd.

"There is so much untapped potential with this channel and with a more prominent shop window to show off our wares, we'll be looking to maximise Really's potential."

another rubbish channel for Freeview

looks like going to scrap my TV license as getting to stage nothing on Freeview worth watching anymore

I think its an improvement :) taking away a +1 channel and replacing with a dedicated channel, surely thats a good thing ?

I watch Dave Ja Vu quite a bit at night if I preferred it to what was on Dave so it's a shame it's going. Will have to watch it on Sky. Not interested in Really at all.

But Dave Ja Vu is a +1 of Dave, cant you just watch it an hour before :) or even the time it should be on lol

I admit +1's do come in handy from time to time but when you have limited space like freeview I would rather have dedicated channels

just my opinion of course ;)

I recon Freeview is brilliant value for money (price of a telly licence).

Most of the stuff I watch is available on Freeview anyway, so for me it's definitely a bonus.

hehe yeah I know but I often watch Dave or Dave Ja Vu in bed before going to sleep and watch an hour of which ever programme I prefer. For me Dave is the kind of channel you stick on for the sake of watching something right there and then. It's not like I'm planning to watch at particular programme on it (in which case I would watch in earlier) just something to pass the time.
