hi Peeps
Just been to Argos to pick up reserved bush freeview set top box, only to be told the law has changed and I need my TV licence also home address. Has this was for my caravan I didn't have my tv licence. So they would not let me have the £19.99 freeview box.
Any one else heard of this ..thoughts apreciated.

they used to just ask for the post code and house number and inform the licenseing people. how would order a tv online in that case? something is amiss there methinks

Always ask you for your details and fill in a form when purchasing tv equipment from Sainsbury's as well .. but all they do is ask for address etc .. they do not want to actually see license

I bought a Freeview box from Tesco a couple of weeks ago, I never got asked for anything at all mate

Actually bought a tv at the weekend from Richer sounds and all that was required was post code.

i was always informed that its actually bullshit, there is no law requiring you to produce a license to purchase any sort of equipment.
tv licensing get on my tits

Retailers are not legally required to inform tvlicencing however if they do - as a kickback they do not have to pay for one for the shop
