TNA WRESTLING will be broadcast on Freeview from February, thanks to a deal the company has signed with Sky TV channel Challenge.

Challenge TV will broadcast TNA's flagship show Impact every week, as well as round-up programme Xplosion and huge monthly PPV events such as Lockdown and Bound For Glory.

It marks the return of grappling to free television in Britain, sure to invoke memories of the glories days of British wrestling on ITV's World of Sport.

TNA president Dixie Carter said: "So happy to announce that all TNA programming in the UK will be on Challenge TV from February on Sky, Virgin and now Freeview too!"

TNA, which used to be shown on Bravo, is the home of wrestling legends including Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Kurt Angle and Jeff Hardy.

A spokesman for Sky — the satellite operator 39.1 per cent owned by News Corporation, parent company of The Sun — added: "We'll be showing all the episodes fans have missed.

"We'll announce exact timings soon but the monthly TNA PPV show will be shown as a recorded show as it was on Bravo. We plan to show these on a Wednesday night when they happen, in addition to the weekly Impact/Xplosion shows."

Challenge can be found on Freeview Channel 46 from February 1, Sky Channel 125 and Virgin Media Channel 139.

It TNA still going, last I heard they were losing a shed load of cash

they've been losing cash on and off since they started!

too many older timers & russo on writing duties.

The only reason I am aware of them really is that MMA fighter bobby lashly was doing a fake/real storyline. I had a quick look at their list of 'stars' and yes the roster looks good, if it was 10 years ago.

batista left WWE to try his hand at MMA -but rumours are he'll go back to pro wrestling eventually, too many talented buys in MMA - too many people following brocks lead!

I read that too. Brock is legit wrestler as was lasley. Angle could potentially have been awesome in MMA if he wasn't messed up with injuries and drug abuse. Apparently when brock joined wwf, he and angle had legit match after the audience had left and angle totalled handled brock.

a proper shoot between them 2 would have been awesome to see, brocks a beast but totaly bulked up for wwe when he started. I always hoped Goldberg would do mma as he said he would - just so he could get his arse handed to him! Great look but clumsy gob!

I still read the news sites but hardly watch these days

I can't remember who it was but he totally no-sold goldberg and the whole crowd was laughing. Shame they didn't end up showing the match on tv.

In WCW ? I know it was Goldberg who ended Bret Hart's career with a full force kick to the head that accidentally connected with his temple....what a time btw, Goldberg was as over as anyone at the time but Stone Cold was on another planet - Bischoff missed the boat on him and Brian Pillman big time!

As for TNA, people talk a lot of harshness about them, some of it 100% true but most of it is greatly exaggerated imo. I got bored with WWE about 4 years ago and got right into TNA since...they have an awesome roster there and fast pacing. You have name talent like Angle, RVD, Flair, Hogan, Team 3D, Mr Anderson and Jeff Hardy - then you have some of the most talented wrestlers in the world in the tag teams of Beer Money and Motor City Machine Guns. TNA's tag team division is probably one of the best in the world. Then there's the X Division which was awesome and can be again anytime they like. And of course AJ Styles is the chief reason to watch TNA as he's a truly phenomenal wrestler. That triple threat match I watched last year between Samoa Joe vs Christopher Daniels vs AJ Styles honestly apart from Taker vs Michaels at Wrestlemania was hands down the best wrestling match I've seen in the last 14 years!

Just thinking back, it was william regal. There is a bit about the incident on his wiki page under WCW

tna has come great talent but has terrible booking and non-sense story lines sometimes - really wastes good opportunities - most seem to put this down to russo too.

it's a real shame there aren't any really big tag teams left, 3D is about the only one

True, while I do think some of it is merited I also think a lot of it is over stated. For example I watch TNA and it's not nearly as bad as people try to make it out to be most of the time, yet when I watch some of the crap that WWE had been doing I think to myself had TNA done that there'd be riots lol. Basically the top dog gets away with a lot that the rest wouldn't because it already has it's audience and market share.

There might not be any really big tag teams left, but the best I've seen in a long time are in TNA - MCMG, Beer Money and Generation Me are three of the best in the world and they're all young. If any of those ever go to WWE they'll improve their tag team division to no end. But they don't need to do anything as they already are top of the tree and rather untouchable. Which is another reason TNA needs to stop trying to copycat WWE because they won't beat them at their own game.

but those tag teams have only been put together recently and they don't wrestle together in the indy's - only in TNA - that's the issue the teams these days, they don't see a future as team only while it suits them.

Really ? I could be thinking of guys like Samoa Joe who weren't allowed to work for indy promotion Ring Of Honour or other indies once signed up with TNA. Probably something to do with PPVs. Some of the tag teams may work seperately as individuals on the occasional indy circuit now and then but MCMG and Beer Money are on TNA almost every week and they are world class irrespective of whether or not they work indie dates individually. Not just my opinion. ;)
