I think we should start with which phones tomtom is compatible with. (all mobile models compatible are not listed on the tomtom website)

Taken off tomtom site:-

Microsoft Smartphone

* Imate
SP3, SP3i, SP5, SP5m

* Motorola
MPX 220

* O2
XDA Phone

* Orange
SPV C500, SPV C550, SPV C600, SPV E200

* Qtek
8010, 8020, 8060, 8080, 8100, 8300, 8310

* Swisscom
Mobile Assistant XPA v1240

* T-Mobile
SDA, SDA Music, SDA2

Series60

* Nokia
3230, 6260, 6600, 6630, 6670, 6680, 6681, 7610, N70, N90

Series80

* Nokia
9300, 9500

Series90

* Nokia
7710

Symbian UIQ

* Sony Ericsson
P910i

adding:-
Sony Ericsson p800 and p900 (symbian UIQ)

motorola A1000 (symbian UIQ)

The .sis file that runs tomtom on the p910i will NOT work on the p800 or p900 they use a DIFFERENT .sis file (which will also work on motorola A1000) to install tomtom

Similar thing for the spv c500 and spv c550 both running windows mobile 2003, the spv c500 TomTom MOBILE.exe file will not work properly on the spv c550 (the display will look squashed) it will require a different TomTom MOBILE.exe file this is due to the spv c550 having 240x320-pixel screen and the spv c500 having 220x176-pixel screen.

(if you need any particular file they can be found from the usual places ;) )

hi mate
any idea when tom tom is due to support s60 v3 for nokia n80
thanks

i just pasted the following text from somewhere else:-

"Response from TomTom when asking about compatibility with N80:

At TomTom we strive to make our products compatible with as many devices and platforms as possible. However, connectivity protocols are dictated by the technology markets, not by TomTom, so we are at the mercy of the fact that there is not a standard set of connectivity protocols that covers all platforms and devices. We therefore choose to use the most commonly supported connectivity protocols (Bluetooth 1.1 and DUN) in order to support as many devices as we possibly can. Due to this lack of a single generic set of connectivity standards, it is unfortunately not possible for us to support all devices. Also the latest phones on the market. Our testing department is constantly testing all new devices that are released on the market, and when necessary we make changes to our software to further improve the compatibility of our products.
It can happen that your TomTom recognises your phone but that not all or even none of the functions (hands-free calling, SMS etc) are working due to the difference in protocols and/or operating system. Exact dates for compatibility and guarantees for compatibility cannot be given.

We trust in having informed you sufficiently,
With best regards,

The TomTom Customer Support Team"

But there is a s60 version out there, give it a try m8 you never know,

or

you can use the new ROUTE 66 Mobile 7 software this is compatible with your phone have a look here:-

if it runs the same OS as a P800:- Symbian OS v7 (UIQ) it could possibly work, worth a try though,

The only problem you may face is the duo stick's max allowed for p800 phones is 128mb, you will get the program on but it could be the maps if your wanting to put the full gb map on.

(the p800 phones can be flashed to take higher memory cards)

hi
ive got a n80 and read route 66 is
Not compatible with Sony Ericsson UIQ and Nokia S40/S60/S80/S90
so no good for n80

here's a pic of a nokia n80 with route66 and look here for other phone compatibilities with route66.

when will it be avaliable for the sony k600i

cheers thanks

Does anyone know whether TomTom will run on a Nokia 5500 Sport phone? It seems to have the Symbian operating system at its heart.

Yeh mate I've managed to get tt6 on my 5500 sport seems ok, I've drove round the block a few times but will give a good run out tomorrow let you know if it crashe ect

It seems this thread needs an update to its compatibility list. Now I find the Nokia N72 and N70 which are not on the list both also have symbian operating systems. I'm trying to find the right handset/contract to kill two possibly (with tomtom on) three birds with one stone, if you get my meaning.

Anyone any experience with these units? Research seems to be showing up the N72 as the better handset (sorry mate but your N5500 seems to give many users an unwanted keypad detachment problem so I've decided against it)

All advice apprreciated

OK for anyone else who thinks this thread should become a useful resource here is a new list from the TomTom website. As the OP suggests it very likely that many more phones than just the ones here will run the TomTom software.
