At least 91 people, including 20 children, are feared to have been killed by a huge tornado which tore through Oklahoma City suburbs, officials in the US state say.

Worst hit was Moore, south of the city, where neighbourhoods were flattened and schools destroyed by winds of up to 200mph (320km/h).
About 120 people are being treated in hospitals.
President Barack Obama has declared a major disaster in Oklahoma.
He also ordered federal authorities to join in the search efforts which have continued throughout the night.
Monday's twister hit Moore, a suburb of about 55,000 people, at 15:01 (20:01 GMT) and remained on the ground for about 45 minutes.
The official death toll is 51, but local authorities say the figure is expected to rise as another 40 bodies have been found.
At least 20 children were among the dead, the Oklahoma chief medical examiner's office said.
Plaza Towers Elementary school took a direct hit: the storm tore off the building's roof and knocked down walls.
"The school was flattened. The walls were pancaked in," Oklahoma's Lieutenant Governor Todd Lamb told the BBC.
"There's still roughly two dozen children that are missing. There have been some bodies recovered from that school and it's absolutely horrific and devastating."

Another school - Briarwood Elementary - was also damaged, and teachers were later seen leading pupils out to safety.

The huge tornado ripped through a suburb of Oklahoma City, flattening entire neighbourhoods.

Lt Gov Lamb said Moore had been prepared for a tornado, but not of this strength: "There was a warning in place, but when it veers and is as extensive as this one is - two miles wide - on the ground for 45 minutes, that is just wreaking havoc that it's hard to get out of the way of."
Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin said it was a "tragic" day.
More than 200 Oklahoma National Guardsmen as well as out-of-state personnel have been called in to assist the search-and-rescue effort.

The storm destroyed several areas, leaving a tangle of ruined buildings, piles of broken wood, overturned and crushed cars, and fires in some places.
The BBC's Alastair Leithead in Oklahoma says many tornadoes in the region hit the open plain, but this one struck a residential area.
Many houses are built on hard ground without basements, so residents did not have recourse to shelter, our correspondent adds.
'School coming apart'"We locked the cellar door once we saw it coming, it got louder and next thing you know is you see the latch coming undone," survivor Ricky Stover said.
"We couldn't reach for it and it ripped open the door and just glass and debris started slamming on us and we thought we were dead, to be honest."

The damage wrought by the tornado was "unlike anything that I've ever seen before," said Rick Smith of the National Weather Service

Melissa Newton, another survivor, said: "There's shingles and pieces of sheet rock and wood in our yard and all across our neighbourhood. Some homes are completely gone. It's devastating."
James Rushing said he had hurried to Plaza Towers Elementary School, where his foster son Aiden was a pupil, to see it destroyed by the storm.
"About two minutes after I got there, the school started coming apart," he told the Associated Press news agency.

The National Weather Service (NWS) said Monday's tornado had generated winds of up to 200mph.
"It's certainly the most powerful tornado that I've ever dealt with in my 20 years with the weather service," NWS meteorologist Rick Smith in Norman, Oklahoma, told the BBC.
The NWS said the tornado measured EF-4 on the five-point Fujita scale - the second most powerful type.
The town of Moore was hit by a severe tornado in May 1999, which had the highest winds ever recorded on Earth.
But Betsy Randolph of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol told local news station Skynews 9 that the damage on Monday appeared to exceed that of the 1999 tornado.

Tornadoes, hail and high winds also hit Iowa and Kansas, part of a storm system stretching from Texas to Minnesota.
On Sunday, a tornado smashed a trailer park on Highway 102 near Shawnee, Oklahoma.
Oklahoma's state medical examiner confirmed earlier on Monday that two people had been killed in the area.

Singer Jim Morrison and Manzarek formed The Doors in 1965 after a chance meeting at Los Angeles' Venice Beach, and Manzarek's keyboard work would go on to be a touchstone of hits like "Break On Through to the Other Side" and "Light My Fire."

"I was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of my friend and bandmate Ray Manzarek today," The Doors guitarist Robby Krieger said in a statement.

"I'm just glad to have been able to have played Doors songs with him for the last decade. Ray was a huge part of my life and I will always miss him."

Manzarek, who was born in Chicago in 1939, is survived by his wife, Dorothy, two brothers, a son, daughter-in-law and three grandchildren.

He died surrounded by his wife and brothers in a clinic in Rosenheim, Germany.

The TM 2300 main gear is of plastic construction, presuming the teeth had stripped, decided to replace it with a TM 2600 (could not wait for repair, football season still on). After fitting the TM 2600 decided to take the TM 2300 apart, on opening up the problem was obvious, the drive motor mounting screws were falling out. The main drive gear teeth were OK. After reassemble the motor in operation was quieter than new.

The codename of this image is a tribute to the past history of Black Hole series (one of the fastest ever images for the old dreamboxes).

a. Is it still cheaper to build the machines ourselves?

b. Can a higher clocked i5 processor outperform an entry level i7 in gaming? (particularly in games that don't use more than 2 cores)

c. Is a monitor still an essential purchase or could I get by with a 1080p tv screen?

d. Are Intel still top dog, or have AMD got any aces up their sleeves?

e. If any of you's work around there ur no what it's like for bloody cyclist playing Russian roulette with the traffic, weaving in and around you all the time as well as pedestrians just stepping out in front of you thinking they own the road... Anyway read this what has happened to me, and the guy has reported the incident as an injury...

I was travelling from my previous place of work (Fenchurch Street) back to my office located in Woolwich. There were 3 lanes of traffic on a one way system around Aldgate. I was travelling in lane 2. The traffic was slightly heavy, due to the start of the rush hour and also being in the city of London. The traffic was bumper to bumper stop start stop start. There was a motorbike on my left hand side which was edging into my lane, which edged me Slightly towards lane 3. The white van in lane 3 hooted his horn to warn me he was there. I then merged back into lane 2. I then had a cyclist weaving around me. I was at that time accelerating with the traffic. I was double checking my left hand side wing mirror and blind spot mirror to see where the cyclist had gone and without realising within a split second the traffic had come to a halt at the traffic lights, causing me drive into the rear of a taxi. The taxi merged forwards towards the right hand side in the crossroads ahead and stopped. The Taxi driver got out of the vehicle and from what I remember I think there was a passenger in the rear of the Taxi whom also got out. The lights turned green as for which I quickly turned left into Commercial Road to park my van and go to see the Taxi driver. The one way system that I was on was a double red route as also so was commercial Road. I then turned a sharp left again where I parked on double yellow lines as safe to do so. I then got out of my van and turned back into Commercial Road (on Foot) heading back towards the incident. I then realised the Taxi had gone.
Not knowing what else to do, I then drove to the local Police station which is the only one that I knew around that area which is located at Bishops gate / Liverpool Street station. I explained what had happened at the front desk, for which I was told, the road which this happened in comes under the Metropolitan Police. The station that I was at comes under City of London Police. I was advised to complete an incident report form and they would forward this onto the Bethnal Green police station. They also advised that this would take about 2 weeks to get onto the system at which point they would then contact me / my office with an incident report number. I mentioned if I could have some form of receipt for reporting this, as for which they have given to me and I have handed this to my office. Due to the above mentioned statement I have made, I have no details of the other vehicle or driver involved other then, a Black London Taxi and the driver being an older white male.

The taxi driver has reported it to please police saying I failed to stop and put his report in as an injury report, where as I put reported mine as an incident. My East Arc is set up stronger at Present (Badr4 26E superb even in bad weather). But I think the Dish was Aligned in a hurry on 13E and adjusted on 26E last time, need to do it right on 0.8W/1W this time (my reception Satellite Arc is generally 45E to 45W, although 47.5E would be a nice addition).

I seem to remember the Baltic Beams were the weakest receivable ones in the UK at 0.8W/1W but I can't remember the frequencies to use, can anyone help?

This is probably a daft question, but I will ask anyway. I currently live in an area with a strong 3 (mobile network) signal and have a 'one plan' contract that allows tethering. I am receiving consistent speeds of 12-14Mbps? better than my historic adsl connection!!

Anyway, I appreciate you can get wifi routers that have the ability to connect to 3g using a phone sim, however does a device/process exists that would allow me to connect my phone (without taking the sim out) to a wifi router to allow all existing devices access to the internet?

I do use the phone as a hotspot, but I have multiple devices that have wired connections to my router. i.e pc, ps3, xbox360. I would rather not purchase wireless adaptors for all of my wired devices.

I just think I could remove the internet costs of fibre/adsl and phone line rental if I could come up with a solution.

While there is an enormous volume of information both in books and on-line with respect to networking they all seem to suffer from the same problems, start beyond basic level; try to encompass too many areas of technology and are generally difficult to read.

A network is simply a mechanism which allows two or more systems to communicate and defines the rules to enable communication to take place. For example, think of the 'phone network. Whether mobile or landline you take a device that is capable of connecting to the network (BT, Virgin etc.) and, once connected, you can communicate with other 'phones. As the networks are connected to each other you can communicate with 'phones on other networks too.

There could be many reasons why you would want to gain an understanding of networks including career development or hobby interest. For example, a lot of technology such as TV and audio equipment comes network-enabled. Many TVs can connect to the Internet or media servers on your home network. Also, there is your Internet connection itself of course.

All of these products use a form of Ethernet as their networking technology whether by wired connection or wireless so a good place to start may be with Ethernet as that is what most people will be familiar with. As it's used extensively in both the home and place of work it should be relevant to most users.

Rather than diving in to the techy stuff first it may be good to have a look at the history of Ethernet as it puts things in perspective.

History of Ethernet

Networking today is much different to the original concept which revolved mainly around connecting computers together that were generally quite close to one another and connecting remote devices such as 'dumb' terminals and printers. Consequently, networking has evolved quite a bit over the decades as computer systems have become more widespread and the technology in desktop, laptop and mobile systems has become more refined. Even so, a lot of the networking technology used today is an evolution of that first used all those decades ago.

Although you can trace the history of networking back as far as the forties, networking as we would recognise it really starts with the development of Ethernet at Xerox Parc around 1974-75. It was inspired by ALOHAnet which was an early wireless network used to link the various parts of the University of Hawaii to the central computers. Wireless because the university spreads over several islands. ALOHAnet was, essentially, packet radio which just means that whatever data you want to send is chopped up into small segments (packets) and sent a packet at a time.

The challenge at Xerox Parc was to develop a means of using cabling in a similar manner. Effectively, Ethernet is an evolution of packet radio with each device transmitting packets but over cable rather than the airwaves. The end result was Ethernet adapters which were miniature radio transmitter/receivers connected together using coaxial cable coupled with software that defined the rules and allowed networking to take place.

Ethernet Rules

Ethernet rules are like manners for computers! Imagine being out for a meal with friends and you have something you'd like to say but someone else is talking. Normally, you'd wait until they'd finished or both messages would likely get lost in all the clutter. Networks have similar problems, if two or more devices try to send at the same time the messages can get too cluttered for either to be understood.

Many mechanisms exist to handle this issue but the most basic is CSMA/CD (Carrier Sense, Multiple Access/Collision Detect) which is harder to say than it is to understand. Effectively it breaks down into three parts, Carrier Sense means check whether another device is sending before sending yourself. Multiple Access just means many devices can use the same piece of cable and, because of this, collisions may occur so listen while sending (Collision Detect). A collision is simply the result of two or more devices sending at the same time which results in the blocks of data (packets) being damaged.

Sending devices listen while sending and if what they hear is different to what they sent then a collision is assumed. At this point both stop sending and transmit a 'jam' signal to indicate that the cable has a 'traffic jam' and they wait for a random period before trying to send again.

Modern equipment does use other mechanisms but still 'falls back' to CSMA/CD if all else fails. One such mechanism is the use of a switch which separates all the devices from each other as each device has its own port on the switch. Collisions are not necessarily completely eliminated but are considerably reduced. This is because the device and the port on the switch are in the same 'collision domain' i.e. they could send simultaneously. However, if device and switch can run full-duplex (both send and receive at the same time) no collisions could occur.

Other rules define things like how long the cables can be, what type(s) are used and the connectors that are allowed. Having these rules means that if you buy a specific Ethernet cable then, barring manufacturing defects, it should just work. Similar to buying a new landline 'phone, it comes with a standard plug to fit a standard BT socket.

Cable lengths are important because signals degrade over distance so you need to ensure that the signal is sufficently strong to be readable by the receiver. You can place amplifiers (known as repeaters) at strategic points but while amplifiers do make the signal stronger they also add noise which is hard to separate from the data. In addition, repeaters introduce transmission delays. Network software will assume a transmission error if the delays are too great. Consequently, maximum cable lengths are specified in the rules as are the number of repeaters allowed.

These rules are defined in specifications developed and published by IEEE and in the OSI 7-layer model which describes what takes place at the different stages of networking and how the stages communicate. For example, connectors, cable types, repeaters/hubs etc. are confined to Layer 1 which is the most basic level of the network.

At this point we're only interested in the fact that it's a conceptual model which helps you to visualise what happens; it comprises two main sections, the Application Set is where stuff like browsers live, this section determines what should be sent and where to, and; the Transport Set. The Transport Set determines how stuff gets sent and right at the bottom is the Physical Layer, Layer 1, where stuff gets put onto the cable.

Simply put, Layer 1 moves datagrams around. A datagram is a generic name for something that moves around the network with data in it. Think about it as being like something you put in the postbox, it can't be too big as it won't go through the slot/letterbox (about 1500 bytes is typical) and it has the address to send it to, the address it came from and whatever you're sending (the payload).

Here's a typical example.

The preamble is like waving a flag saying I'm sending you something. Destination and Source are the addresses it's going to and coming from respectively. Type/Length is usually used to indicate how big the Data part (or payload) is while the Frame Check is used at the receiving end to help determine if everything arrived correctly. You can imagine this frame or datagram as travelling along the wire with the preamble first.

Now, at this level we are talking about hardware or MAC addresses, Layer 1 doesn't know anything about IP addresses or anything fancy like that. The hardware (or MAC) address is programmed into the Ethernet adaptor when it is manufactured. Each manufacturer has blocks of MAC addresses assigned to it for use on its own adaptors. The MAC address of my computer is:

You can find out yours by running 'ipconfig' in a Windows command prompt (or 'ifconfig' in a Linux terminal). It's a 12-digit Hexadecimal number (base 16, so digits go from 0-15 i.e. 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,a,b,c,d,e,f) and plugging this number into an on-line MAC address checker (MAC_Find: Vendor/Ethernet/Bluetooth MAC Address Lookup and Search) reveals mine is one of a block assigned to Dell. So, at this simplest level of networking, Layer 1, information can only be sent to other devices on your home network. To send something to the Internet requires that the address of the Internet device be placed in the payload part of the datagram which is then sent to whatever you connect to the Internet with.

What Layer 1 DOESN'T do is define what's IN the payload part of the datagram, that's done elsewhere, like a program. As an example, when you Google something it's the web browser that decides what to send and where, the networking software decides how to send it and when it gets all the way down to Layer 1 it gets transmitted on the cable.

So, when people talk about a Layer 1 activity or device you know they mean connectors, cables, repeaters, hubs etc. You should also be aware that some words and phrases in networking are used interchangably but mean different things. When I refer to a 'hub' I'm talking about a piece of networking equipment used to 'repeat' an incoming signal onto one or more other outgoing cable segments. When Virgin talk about a hub they mean the piece of kit they send you to connect to their broadband service. It's not really a 'hub', it's a router/firewall/switch and combined modem. Not quite the same thing!

I recently bought new TV and have issues with HDMI output from 800SE.

randomly picture start to flicker and/or TV gives the error "no signal". putting the box in standby and turning it back on solves the problem most of the time.

Otherwise changing the HDMI port on TV solves the issue , however issue is quite random.

Now interesting thing is , this box was working fine on old TV with HDMI (Both TV's support full HD).

Blu ray player on the TV works fine without any issues so looks like TV is fine as well.

I have 4 HDMI cables and tried all and intrechnaged cables with other devices and no Joy..!

Old TV was Sony and New one is LG.

I have got my dreamcast today and hooked it up via Scart Lead (Its not fully wired so i dont think its a true RGB type)

The problem is that the picture is moved to the left leaving a big black bar on the right side of the screen. I have done some research on the net but not really found a solution. I have gone into the service menu to try and adjust the picture but cant see a setting to do this. It displays just fine on my 32 inch old CRT TV. What are my options? Does anyone know of other 1080p hd capable TV's that will run the dreamcast properly.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The box has a*miniflash* at the back, so i was easily getting the bootup to the ip address again after the no ca error,but have not been able to get any futher as after flashing a selection of images from the clone download section, along with there perspective bootloaders to match, after the reflash, the box boots again to the (No ca error msg), and i am kinda stuck here.

I am flashing via the web browser on an Imac (no windows computer).

Can someone offer any advice & assistance, ?

To create prosperity in a former east german town, an EU or german government grant was used to set up a factory to manufacture panels.
Exactly which source wasn't clear, but there's probably little difference. The factory is fully automated, employs around 10 people,
mainly in quality inspection. There must be peripheral employment, but even with that included, it would hardly bring prosperity to the area.
The factory can't compete because of the chinese subsidy, and is demanding EU action. An EU decision is to be made within two weeks,
or hopefully before the sun goes out. The proposed EU response is a 38% import tax to redress the balance and keep the factory viable.

Meanwhile, a factory in the UK makes frames which support the chinese panels, currently employs around 30 people, with expected expansion to 65, assuming current sales continue. Making frames for chinese solar panels is not my idea of "high end manufacturing", our supposed salvation, but it is employment. If the 38% import tax is imposed, to save the german factory, the panel price will increase in step. UK factory sales will suffer, due to increased cost, and the future of current employees is uncertain, quite apart from the planned expansion.

Overall, if the EU decides in favour of the tax, it means an increase of 38% if you want a solar panel, and lost jobs in the UK.

I realise there will always be winners and losers, but is our horse going to be chopped off at the knees again ?

Anyway, if anyone is familiar with this ancient piece of kit I'd like to resurrect it if possible.

One of the earlier micro-hifi systems it has an intermittent fault. It stays in standby mostly but when it comes on it works fine. CD, tuner, cassette all fine. It's soft-switch so the on/off is in the tuner and the PSU is in the power-amp.

When it doesn't work you either get the E: symbol showing the clock isn't set or nothing in the display at all. Sometimes it comes on and works normally for a few minutes then drops back to standby.

Please don't spend too much time as I'll just get rid but if anyone thinks, heyho, bloody C101 knackered (or whatever) and it's a quick fix I'd appreciate being enlightened :)

Not to be outdone by Microsoft's and Adobe's Patch Tuesday releases, Mozilla pushed out its latest browser and email client updates today.

The Firefox browser goes to 21.0, on Android as well as on desktops. (You don't install browsers on your servers, do you?)

The Thunderbird email client is only available in an Extended Support Release these days, meaning it gets regular security patches but infrequent product enhancements; it hits 17.0.6.

Microsoft's May 2013 Internet Explorer updates included two patches for which the world was waiting with bated breath - one to fix a vulnerability exposed at the 2013 PWN2OWN competition, and a second to close a much-publicised zero-day briefly found on a US government website at the end of April.

Mozilla, on the other hand, fixed its own PWN2OWN-found flaws within 24 hours, so its last two updates, 20.0 and 21.0, have been largely proactive on the security front.

This time round, there are 681 listed bug fixes, with eight separately-documented security advisories.

Three of those close multiple holes that Mozilla admits "are potentially exploitable, allowing for remote code execution."

→ Memory corruption problems, where software incorrectly writes over its own or another program's code or data structures, are not always exploitable for malicious purposes. But they are always wrong, and often dangerous, especially in browsers and email clients, which spend most of their time processing content from untrusted external sources.

Mozilla, very creditably, tends not to mince its words when dealing with bugs of this sort.

For example, in Mozilla Foundation Security Advisory 2013-41, no exploits were immediately obvious for any of the bugs fixed, leading the team to report nothing worse that than "we presume that with enough effort at least some of these could be exploited to run arbitrary code."

Nevertheless, this advisory was rated Critical.

Last week I was in Staples where I saw a laptop for sale someone had stolen the hard drive so it was reduced in price. I managed to negotiate to less than half price.

A while ago my Lappy went belly up so thought I'd just put the hard drive from that into the new one.

I did that and all the program's worked.

Here's the problem: the drivers are all the wrong ones so no Internet at all and the sound and webcam are iffy.

The new Lappy is 64bit and HP don't supply 32bit drivers for it.
the Lappy is a HP Pavilion G6 using the Amd A6 processor.

I've downloaded Windows 64bit but have been told it has to be installed on a clean HD. I don't want to format the HD and lose all my programs
Anybody amongst our illustrious crowd got any ideas.

The flare on 13 May comes as the Sun is approaching "solar maximum"

The Sun has unleashed its most powerful eruption of 2013 so far.

The solar flare - a sudden release of radiation - peaked at 1705 BST on Monday, and was associated with a huge eruption of matter.

When these eruptions reach Earth, they can interfere with electronic systems in satellites and those on the ground.

Nasa said this solar explosion - known as a coronal mass ejection (CME) - was not directed at Earth, but it could pass several US spacecraft.

The event on Monday was classified as an "X-class" flare - the most intense type - with a designation of X2.8 (higher numbers denote a stronger flare). It surpassed an X1.7-class flare that occurred 14 hours earlier.

They are the first X-class events to occur this year.

When intense enough, a flare can disturb the Earth's atmosphere in the layer where GPS and communications signals travel.

This disrupts the radio signals for as long as the flare is ongoing - the radio blackout associated with this flare has since subsided.

CMEs can be even more disruptive because they can send billions of tonnes of solar particles into space. In those cases when very strong eruptions do reach Earth, the charged matter can blow out transformers in power grids.

The so-called Carrington Event of 1-2 September 1859 shorted telegraph wires, starting fires in North America and Europe, and caused bright aurorae (northern and southern lights) to be seen in Cuba and Hawaii.

The CME associated with this flare may pass the Stereo-B and Spitzer spacecraft. The operators of those science missions can choose to put their spacecraft into a "safe mode" to protect the electronics in onboard instruments from being tripped.

Increased numbers of flares are expected at the moment because the Sun's normal 11-year activity cycle is approaching a "high" of activity - known as a solar maximum.

Looking for some advice regarding some outdoor lighting. I have just recently had some decking installed around ground level , and I want to light this area up at night from around head height. I don't want lighting that is in your face so bright that you can't look at it, but something softer, or filtered light that could illuminate about 15-20 feet long, and about 15feet wide.

Thinking about 3 wall lights, but unsure of the type to buy.
Anyone got something along these lines that could offer some advice.

Is it possible to download everything i need to set it up, then plug in the null cable to the laptop and the other end to the box and then transfer it all to the DM putting it simply, obviously its a bit more complicated, but basically can it be done, or do i need to get a router and broadband?

I have this running for 18 months and I was updating the entitlements by putting the card back into the original box (i know now the error of my ways)

I want to setup Mgcamd so that it will update the card entitlements automatically.

Can I install the Mgcamd from the menu and update my current settings so that it will update?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated, I know my way around the boxes and Oscam/CCam I just dont know about Mgcam

The rear wiper seems to be a common problem - it dies and it's kind of easy to just whack in a new motor but...

...water seems to get in down the spindle and, as a result, the mechanism seizes.

It's REALLY easy to take out, strip, clean and re-grease. So, save a few quid by popping off the tailgate trim panel (4 bolts and a few plastic retainers), remove the wiper arm and gently tap the spindle down. Unbolt (just 3 bolts) the mechanism then remove the panel cover plate using spline drives.

WD40 frees it off with a pair of grips and a good dollop of grease - the motor seems to be protected from overload - re-install the motor assembly and check it's parked then refit the wiper-arm and interior trim.

the problem I had was when I flashed it only got to 87% flash !! and after 10mins still on 87% !
so I cancelled and tried a different image ! same thing only got too 87% !
so just reflashed the bootloader and rebooted box !! and my box is working now !! weird !

so I have now got a earlier openpli 3.0 image on my box but had too flash bootloader and then image (which still only got to 87%) then bootloader again THEN rebooted box

all up and running , rebooted box a couple of times after plugins etc etc

At the moment I have everything setup to go to my server (timeshift, recording, CrossEPG etc). I setup a new picon directory and created a symlink ln -s /media/net/picon /usr/share/enigma2/picon

The picons are showing on the infobar and the oled which is great, but if I turn the box off and on they are no longer there. To get them back I have to press blue and select picon updater and select "Display Picons on OLED".

Just wondering if anyone knew a way of getting this to auto start with the box?

I originally had the digital worldz image installed and couldn't get it working so decided to give DreamboxUK another go and seem to be a bit further on :).

I am sure these programmes are made and shown to purposely turn the ordinary tax paying working man against any and every person on benefits.
This show reveals his large family of his own and step kids and heavily pregnant wife, and one scene shows him stealing shopping from the open boot of someone's car ! and excusing it as "off the back of a lorry" "off the back of a car" "what's the difference?"
This isn't a typical benefit claimant, this is thieving scum !!
Yes, I'm on benefit, yes as this guy will also claim I have worked and paid into the system for years, but no matter how skint I get I would never stoop so low as to steal somebody's shopping from the back of their car.
I like many others I know who have worked and paid their taxes and national insurance (which is meant as an insurance policy against being out of work for whatever reason and like an insurance policy you pay it and hope that you don't need to claim) and have now fallen on hard times, we have Morals !!!
But programmes like this stir up feelings against those on benefits and make those lucky enough to be healthy and working treat all benefits claimants as if we were the same as this type of scum and believe me this is really hurtful and does enforce the feelings of depression that are already there because we are no longer the breadwinners, no longer able to provide the family with the odd treat, no longer able to switch the heating up because it's still cold in May.
You feel that your integrity is questioned at every turn, it feels like nobody believes a word you say, it feels like you have been demoted to a 3rd class citizen.
It isn't a bed of roses surviving on benefits, because I have had the temerity to appeal against the ATOS assessment of my condition (which is opposed to my GP and Hospital Specialists opinion) I was put on the assessment level of benefit which is £26 a week less than the basic payment, and I have waited over 18 months for the appeal to be heard......................it is for this type of reason that many do not appeal, not because they are falsely claiming as the government would have you believe.
Anyway, Rant over. I am looking for specific commands so I can write a new plugin for Rat :)

I thought it might be a nice idea if we can list down the commands we all know.

Mostly the list is based on linux commands, but quite a few are not used.

Dreambox Telnet Commands list:

top - this commands will give you current stats of your memory, cpu, program usage.
find - this command will find a file or folder within your draembox directory structure.
rm - remove command will remove files normally followed by -rf for a complete removal from the system.
df - will show you the file system and the file system setup.
free - this command shows you the memory usage on your dreambox.
date - shows you the time and date on your dreambox.
unzip - this command will unzip files to a location of your choice. IE (unzip -o /tmp/Latest.zip /media/hdd/latest) that would take a file in the tmp folder and unzip it into /media/hdd/latest.
tar - roughly is the same as unzip and zip but for tarball files.
gzip - for zipping and unzipping gz files.
cp - the copy command, this will copy a file from one location to another.
mkdir - this command will make a directory of your choice.
uname - usually followed by -a will tell you what operating system you are using, very useful command for checking what box you are using and build times etc!
ls - this is the list command will list the contents of a directory.
which - nice command to find the location of a program.
chmod/chown/adduser/deluser/ - these are all user and group management commands... there are a few more but these are the obvious ones.

Dreambox Advanced Commands:

ipkg-build - this command will build you a plugin once you have wrote the plugin in correctly written bash.
ipkg-unbuild -this dreambox command will unbuild a plugin see above.
dmesg - used with (dmesg | more) is a very powerful and first call diagnostic tool in linux
grep - put this in here as its probably the most used command in linux and very powerful for searching files and listing information in order.
wget - by far my favorite command on linux platforms and so underrated, I can do with this command things that people would not believe, however its main use is for getting information/files/ from another location on the internet or lan.
enigma1 - this is the base command for enigma1 boxes, only use this command if you know what you are doing... a useful command for use is (enigma --help)
enigma2 - this is the base command for enigma2 boxes, only use this command if you know what you are doing... a useful command for use is (enigma --help-all)

All I could think of at the moment,

I am basically looking for a command to output the enigma version of a file, but not having much luck, I thought uname might have the details... I used find but no luck... looks like I will need to find the file that uses the enigma1 or enigma2 name/text whatever, and then grep the file, but the file has to be universal on all platforms.

For sale is a Samsung Galaxy S3 16GB Pebble Blue. The phone comes with several cases + screen protectors, and also the Samsung charger. I have just replaced the original battery with another genuine Samsung S3 battery (both are included), And also the battery cover with a genuine Samsung pebble blue cover (again both are included). The back of the phone is in great condition (brand new battery cover) and has one light surface scratch on the camera lens, This doesn't effect pictures what so ever. The sides of the phone is not in the best condition and has a few chips as pictured. The screen has several surface scratches, and the side of the screen is cracked a little, i will show this in a red circle as its impossible to see from the pictures. This DOESN'T effect the LCD as its just a tiny piece of glass missing. If this annoys the buyer it can be replaced for £4.

The phone is in perfect working condition and is unlocked to all networks.

I am asking for £230 and that includes RMSD next day.

Over the past week, Onswipe found a significant bump in the number of visits from iOS 7 iPhones and iPads, specifically located in both Cupertino and San Francisco. SF had the most iOS 7 visits, with 18.75 percent, and Cupertino accounted for 17.9 percent of the total. I have a WD Elements 1tb External hard drive which I used with my linux sat receiver for recordings and stuff, It was formatted in ext 4 format.
I have now bought a new one which doesn't need to be powered (uses usb to power it). So I want to format the WD back to ntfs/fat32 so I can use with windows as a storage drive.
The problem is When I plugged it into my laptop I went to disk management deleted the partition made active and formatted into ntfs but it doesn't show in windows explorer.
Is there something else I should be doing or am I doing something totally wrong ? All I want to use it for now is storage of photos and videos stuff like that but useable by windows.

My other half's car insurance is due for renewal on the 11th may so about a month ago I used GoCompare and got loads of quotes.
I decided to get the Tesco insurance at £249 with all the extras I needed.
Last night I decided to print out the insurance document and put in the folder when I noticed I have put the start date of 22nd May, that's when the other car is due so an easy mistake.
I gave Tesco a ring and asked to move the date forward to the 11th but they said they had to cancel the policy and I need to get a new one, no problem.
I went back to GoCompare where all my details where logged and changed the start date of the policy hit search and again Tesco's came up but this time £216 for the very same insurance.

thought i would ask a wee question before i head out to work.

After some recent small problems, i re-flashed my box, and everything was back to normal.

There is a slight problem tho with CrossEpg, and this was the issue i had,when i ran into problems.

When i configured crossEpg, i set the epg data download to go into the USB flash disk.
I didnt set it to download automatically, as i wanted to have a proper look what it was doing.

This morning after i ran the Updater to download todays EPG, i noticed that straight after this, the storage for the EPGdata had reverted back to internal flash, and not the (usb ) where i had configured.

I tried to change this (without restarting first) and CrossEpf didnt recognise that the usb was present.

After a box restart, i was then able to reset it to download the data to the Usb drive.

Altho this isnt a major issue (as long as you dont forget to re-set), is there a Fix ?

Question 1 - Is there any alternatives to the CrossEpg plugin ?

or, is it a case of just keeping an eye on this everyday

Question 2 - How do you set the box to automatically re-start/re-boot after crossEpg has run, after a scheduled download.

I recently took delivery of a brand new TM800 HD. I even had a demonstration of it working on the most popular sports, movie channels. However, a week later, back at home, I connected it up and now I am not able to view all movie, sports, cartoon, documentary, lifestyle channels and many more. I noticed that all these channels display the key icon in the bottom right hand corner. I guess this mean these channels are locked?

I am however able to view terrestrial channels, and nearly all news channels.

I also see an intermittent message on screen - Service not found! (SID not found in PAT). Not sure whether this message is related to the described problem?

As I am a total newbie, can someone advise (in laymans terms) on what the problem may be and any remedial steps I can perform please?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I bought a job lot of faulty 360's, now 1 of them, has written on the bottom of the metal chassis, the make of dvd drive it should have and the model, along with f/w and the dvd key.

So i bought a hitachi gdr-3120l with rom version 0079l, which is exactly what is wrote on the 360.

Now my problem is, how do i change the dvd key on the drive when alls i have is the original dvd key wrote on the 360 and not in a .bin file.

I am totally new to 360's, ive read lots of different stuff on how to flash these drives, spoof etc, alls i want to do, is change the dvd key, i dont want to play copied games or any of that, i just basically want to marry the dvd drive to the motherboard so that it can play genuine 360 games.

Ive also read about an audio cd to put the drive into mode b as the 78-79 are different to the rest of the hitachi's. Ive not got a clue where to download this.

Iam not very good with software side of things, but i am willing to learn. I have fixed alot of iphones with error codes in the past, but please help me in plain english that is very easy to understand lol.

I have downloaded jungleflasher, but not sure on how to use it yet, as the tuts go on about extracting the dvd key from the old drive, to put on the new drive, but i only have the dvd key wrote down.

The dvd drive does play dvds and recognizes the 360 games as a dvd and not as a game.
