if I need to set the LNB skew to say -7 and looking at the LNB from behind (as in I am looking at the front of the dish) would I need to rotate clockwise ?
The dish is pointing to Eutelsat 9E - dishpointer.com says I need LNB skew of -7.7. The dish was originally pointed to 39E - since I have moved it to 9E I have not adjusted the LNB skew. Will this effect signal on certain transponders.
Yes, very much so. If it was correctly set up for Hellas, the LNB skew will be quite far round- the cable connector will be somewhere between 7 & 8 o'clock. It will probably still work, but it will be lot better if you back it off to just slightly c/w off vertical. (Bear in mind even 7 o'clock is 30°, way too much!).
Probably not relevant to the OP question but just a word of warning to make sure of the skew direction of your make of LNB, out here in Spain there are a lot of Sharp LNBs which skew in the opposite direction, so a normal skew of 'five past seven' for 28.2E becomes 'five to five' on the Sharps, confusing huh!
