Ok I fancy taking a punt at this one.

Been looking online for info and it is sketchy.

How exactly does it work? I mean do you get images for it? Can you improve the epg for uk and others. Whats the pvr like?

Any info is really appreciated.

for the price, im also thinking of getting one to play with

but

i also nearly bought a clone dm800 when they first came out, mainly down to the price, but after reading the threads of those who did buy one, im glad that i never bothered
but ill be watching this thread with interest as well :)

It's a simple box, well the solomend is and they are all the same i believe but it works well, the tuner is great cccam is stable and the recording is good but the interface is not very nice looking and you cant change anything, the original solomend thread has links to videos showing the user interface.

What about things like channel lists and stuff? or is it all done from the sat menu?

It's a bit of a joke if on a 90 quid reciever the HD and tuner is solid..but clone maufacturers cant seem to get the tuners on clone Dm800 HD's sorted..

next time I need a HD client reciever second box maybe, I might look into one of these as well..basicness of the image is putting me off though, I prefer the E2 DreamElite images and availability of plugins on the Dm800 images..

The channel listing is very basic, there is 1 editor for it and it's not the best but if your only doing 1 sat it's ok, all you get is 1 main column and 7 or 8 fav columns you can put groups into like entertainment news etc and that's it, it's an annoying box on a motorised dish as when you change to a diff sat it starts moving to whatever channel you end up on when you flick to it,not the end of the world but it annoyed me, and it only has 4000 channel list so you cant even scan every sat unless you spend an age with the editor removing all the erroneous channels

I have ordered one of these and should have it by the end of the week.

I will try and do some photos of setting it up and what it is like running different hd channels. I only have a static dish though.

interesting thread this i will be watchin.
i in the market for a new HD box ..
TM800HD is winning lol

Just received this today at work. Will try and get it set up this evening and try and provide some pictures and ease of setting it up.

tempted by this due to price

is this similiar to a Dreambox, ie can I install plugins, setup channel list using DreamEdit, connect via telnet, http and FTP and stream to PC directly from box.

Usb drive attached to box with it powering the drive.

The only problems at the moment is the EPG doesnt work, except for now and next when flicking through the channels.

I cant get the editor to connect using a rs232 cable so i can customise my channel order.

@j1mgg

I have a pasted a few reply's from another forum of a user that could not connect using a null modem cable, may help you!

"you will need a null modem cable, connect it to your pc, start the software and choose the firmware file, as soon as you press next (for it to start looking for the box) turn the receiver on and it should sync and upload the firmware"

"Have tried to use this loader but when I goto load the firmware, it comes up with this error 'Set stb memory error'

On the settings page am using the following:
Com3 which is the right com port
Bits Rate 115200
Parity Even

& not ticking the Include Bootloader opition"

"keep the receiver switched off and turn it on immediately after pressing next, the firmware that is included has the bootloader also so you can tick this to include it."

I have also encountered a rebooting, looping issue with a few of the sly sports channels, as have many other people, someone on another forum has come up with this:-
"Has anyone noticed that some S*y Sports channels make the box reboot then get stuck in a rebooting loop if you try to change channel or access the menu?

Today is the first time I have really played with the box and it drove me nuts, you simply have to unplug your sat feed and you can access the menu and change channel. Very strange.

Here is a dump I took today (using NM_HDS2_CMT_1007120293.abs) with the offending channels removed, 7 groups of favourites but you will probably have to rename them from fav 1, fav 2 etc. For some reason it doesn't save that.

Favorites are:
Entertainment
Movies
HD Channels
Factual
Kids
Music
Sports

Not perfect but it's a start.

This is 28.2e Only."

I have attached the dump.
