Hi Guys

I,ve got £600 to spend on a new reciever guys ! The problem is, i can,t make
my mind up, which box to get. I already have a DB7020, a Eagle and 2 x Tm 1500,s but no HD. So first up is the DB800HD, or maybe the TM6000 series. I do want HD this time, i,m not bothered if it does not network, as i can do that on the 7020 and Eagle, so where do i go from here, i,ve even looked at the AZ box. Any idea,s ???

the azbox gives you full 1080i pic resolution

a dreambox cant touch that for the price

I think looking at the price of the azbox and if it does what it says, i think it dont look bad, an image and other bits and bobs + some support it may be ok

Hi Guys

I looked and looked and got it down to two. The db800 and the daddy, the
db8000. I was going to get the db800 for £498 with 500g hardrive. Then i
thought to myself what the hell, i could just keep upgrading forever, i,ve
only been back in the hobby for two years and have got four recievers
already. So i spoke to the wife, got extra funding and ordered the db8000
on tuesday night from Satstore and it was delivered thursday morning. What
a machine !!! Now i might sell my 7020 and one of my tm8 1500,s, to claw
a little bit of money back into the coffers.

you made the right choice the 8000 has to be the best machine out there and the support has to be the best as well so many teams working on it new images are always coming out with the + of being able to add the dvd drive and looking like blue ray support for it is not long away no other receiver on the market can touch it at the min well in my eyes but from talking to a guy i know that sells them the sales talk for them self as well there is no shortage of buyers

the price of the 8000 is the only thing thats stopped me from buying one, and the fact that i dont watch telly anyway, even though ive got more receivers than a block of flats needs, never mind a single house lol

the HD market is slowly getting more and more receivers, so i think by xmas ill have another box to go with my DM800, but what itll be yet i couldnt say

lol very true the cost is dear but ill not say how much i got mine for as my pm box will fill up dont think you would beleave me if i told you also have been told the 500hd should be a couple of months if all go's well at dreams end will be good to see how this one turns out

Yeah

I was told the 500hd will be with us shortly and at a very good price.

@ 2tone

What image have you flashed in your 8000, i,ve flashed with Gemini 4.2.
I thought setting one up would be a breeze, specially now that i know the
7020 quite well and getting to know linux better. The hd images are totally
different to sd ones and this is where i,m having problems with the setup
and yes it doing my head in. One example, i put imits on 1w and did not
realise, so i could travel west o\k, but could not go east. So i thought my
motor had packed in, then tested on the 7020 and a tm8 1500 and it was
doing the same, so i did a reset on the motor and its back to normal and
working again.

Just a update Guys

I,ve reflashed my db8000hd with Gemini 4.4, as 4.2 was crashing every
time i went into the positioner menu. 4.4 seems more stable and has not
crashed yet.

fezzy were you able to sort your sats out only came back to this post there now sorry

Hi

No m8, still having problems, trying to set the sats m8. I,ve got right upto
there so far. All other settings o\k. I,m only using tuner one with input 1
for now. I,ve worked out how to move the motor, but don,t seem to be
able to land on a sat at the moment and have not worked out how to
manually set them up, so if you could help please. If you could go through
from setting up tuner one and doing a manual setup. Also when inputting
the usals setting via remote control, which button do i press if i want to
put in a minus ( - ) before eg, -11111. I must say they are a very good
looking machine ( the dogs b*llocks ) with everything you would ever need
on a sat reciever, but the setting up is very complicated even when using
the wizard.

Forgot to tellyou

When i press goto in the positioner setup, the motor does go to zero.

Fezzy

for minus change east to west, so -1.1 becomes 1.1 west

once your usals settings are entered properly, itll auto find all sats for you m8

@Digi

I never used Usals before, although i,ve been in the hobby for quite a
while i,ve always used Diseq and setup manually. Don,t know why but always have.
